I would also encourage you to go straight to the Lodima paper. When I started in my darkroom I bought a bunch of Ilford RC paper because it was cheaper. I still use it for some proofs, but it is so...

I have neither the technology nor the skill to post online, but I do have one photo online from the print exchange a couple years ago....
If the labels were put there as a can't-miss-it flag for exposed vs. unexposed film, why is the white label on the "black" side of the dark slide. White is for unexposed; black for exposed. This is a...
Eric,
I am seldom bothered by mosquitoes. I never use bug dope (DEET or otherwise), and I hardly react to their bites (and I have fed millions of mosquitoes). I don't like them inside my LF...
I would thank several of you for your kind offers to post my photo. Much appreciated.
Jeff
I have neither the technology nor the skill to post my photo into this gallery. Could someone volunteer to do this for me? Thanks, Jeff
H.D.C.,
I'm using Telus for internet, and it's working now. I didn't change anything with my computer - I'm sure the problem was with Telus.
Jeff
Andrew,
I can't seem to send any e-mail for about 8 days now, and I don't know why. Same computer for the past 5 years - what's gone wrong? I am following the print exchange posts, and do plan...
Count me in please.
I'd like to be included as well. I missed the last print exchance due to not yet having a darkroom to work in.
My first choice is 8x10 (BW and colour), but I find myself using 4x5 more often due to its smaller size and weight.
Good to find another LF photographer in these parts. We live in Waiparous. I'll hope to meet you some time.
Jeff
I agree. I find the SS150Xl very wide on 8x10, but do like the 90mm on 4x5. Would definitely be interested in a SS180XL (in a copal 1).
I certainly understand the experience you so well describe. Happened to me again yesterday. Which is why I end up carrying a heavier pack than I should most of the time. If I stumble upon a potential...
I have owned and worked with both the Wisner 4x5 Pocket Expedition and the Canham 4x5/5x7 wood (which I use as both a 4x5 and a 5x7). Like you, I also carry the camera significant distances, and in...
I check this forum several times a week. Thanks to all the contributors. It's been a great educational resource for my LF and darkroom endeavors.

Richard Ritter did work with Fred Picker and I believe he has a good reputation both as a photographer and a repair/serviceman. He may be contacted at (802)365-7807. Or check his website at...
Not really a question, just a bit of life as kids see. I have four children (ages 2, 4, 6, &8) who regularly find themselves either waiting for Dad and his 8x10 (nature photography), or in front of...
Jan - the same thought has crossed my mind, more oriented toward small, light optics for 8x10 (such as the Fuji A f10/360mm). I will be watching the development of this dream with interest, and...
Paul - this post is regarding the compensating development timer, not the enlarging timer. Mike - I got my timer on the used market (and they do command high prices). Sure glad to hear they may be...
Thank you all for the answers. I knew the 550XXL was overkill for my needs (and I already have the Fuji 600C). And I won't be be getting the 1100XXL as my 8x10 does not have that much bellows. I...
I am glad to see Schneider introduce these two new "Fine Art" lenses. It is a significant show of faith in the future of large format film-based photography. I am an 8x10 user (with aspirations to go...
RE: "...except that I don't like to make a picture of a beautiful environmental scene, then flush chemstry through it."
Have you ever wondered where all those outdated computers, keyboards,...
Once on an extended canoe trip I got exposed 35mm slide film wet. Some advice - don't put exposed film in your pocket when you might be wading or swimming. I had no way of knowing how much water got...
I assume you are trying to determine film speed and development time. You will need a densitometer to interpret the results. Just tape the step wedge (I have a 4x5 Stouffer wegde) onto the centre of...
It has been very interesting to read this story. I had to keep reading to find out who the company was. I should have guessed. Though the details of my story are different, the take home message is...
I am not new to taking a camera in my canoe. Everything is stored in waterproof cases (such as a Pelican case) and I have never gotten my equipment wet. I have hauled 35mm SLR gear for literally...
Northern Canada is beautiful and wild country. My travels there have been mainly by canoe. But if you are there at the right time (or should I say the wrong time) biting insects, especially...
For someone who dislikes computers, and enjoys LF for it's independence from the digital/electronic world among other things, I don't see this option as a poor man's 4x10. How much would I have to...
I currently work with 4x5 and 8x10, but also dream of getting a 12x20. Why? I agree with Pete above about the quality of the end product produced by an in camera negative can not be equalled by any...
I also tried to purchase a Zone VI compensating enlarging timer from Calumet. It has been discontinued. They told me that it had not been a reliable item any way - gave them lots of hassles. Their...
