Found a way of scanning in the 4x5 negatives using the Epson 4490 and a cardboard mask, it appears to work well!
So far we have not had any newton ring issues!

I managed to develope the films OK, the chemical was a little warm 24 degrees C so I reduced the time down to 4:30 minutes and they all came out perfect!
