I was referring to Nana Sousa's files.
Anyway amazing shots
Very impressive shots, but noisy and "digital" scans.
otherwise I would suggest you the Schneider 550 XXL -stunning rendition over 90 cm of image circle
personally I found out that the 11x14" format is really something special: transportability + amazing spatiality and 3d look (even much more than the 8x10" format)
Try a good drum scanner and you'll forget the Eversmarts soon....
Sorry Lenny, but I don't like those color scans - too saturated, a lot of magenta, violet, shadows completely closed.
Your BW scans look better.
M
It depends....
anyway Portra is more neutral and has wider latitude, and a natural saturation
I could scan a 35mm Velvia taken with a Apo Summicron asph. 90mm M on a tripod, of course.....
My goal was to show the possibility to completely restore a damaged negative, the smoothness of...
For BW I totally agree.
De Stefanis is the best BW lab in Milan.
(and I collaborate with them for drum scans)
Hi Peter, how you doing?
I'm marco, I contacted you approximately 1 year ago about the Screen Cezanne...do you remember?
I use a Dainippon Screen 8060 Mark II, Dainippon's last flagship drum scanner:

Forget them, they were excellent scanners in their days but limited to 8 bits.
To scan color negs a 16 bit drum scanner is needed.
I use a Dainippon Screen 8060 (16 bit), Dainippon's last...
dear digiphobes,
about "loss of detail", take a look here:
It's a Massimo Vitali's dyptich scanned and restored by me and printed at Grieger Lab, Dusseldorf, from 11x14" color negatives:

the large format certainly wins for spatiality ever - compared to the best MF digital systems.
It does worth for sure
The hybrid system allows the highest quality of control+quality, especially shooting LF and ULF and scanning on an excellent drum scanner.
I do drum scans for many international artists...
Slides are certainly much easier to scan, but color negs allow much more control (much wider latitude - lower contrast, more neutral colors etc...);
Generally I would prefer slides only for art...
The best drum scanners (in perfect conditions) are in another league than any CCD scanner, professional or not.
Then the point is the operator's skills (to create excellent profiles-calibration, to...
I work on drum scanners every day, scanning the negs of wellknown artists and photographers.
They have cheap prices nowadays, but to refurbish, repair and mantain them is very expensive or it...
Portra is certainly easier to scan, more natural, more balanced.
But Ektar can be a cheaper option sometimes.

Massimo Vitali's favourite lens is the 360mm Apo Symmar, on 8x10" and 11x14".
I work with him.
This is a Massimo's dyptich that I scanned, restored and printed with him at Grieger lab in...
It's better to bring the film with you, in a X-RAY bag.
Lab Chrome is good too, but I prefer Colorzenith.
That dyptich has been bought by a collector. I don't know where it will fly....
Anyway, I can swear that the print was much sharper than a direct analogue print, superb detail, perfect image...
I never saw any decent scan from an Epson scanner, even from the best operators (like me)
I collaborate with Massimo Vitali and I make the scans from his negatives, postproduction etc..
Take a look:

Guys, I work with many of the best LF and ULF photographers in Italy (Massimo Vitali, Vincenzo Castella, etc...): we all process the films at Colorzenith lab, in Milan - it's an excellent lab for...
It's me in that photo :-)

I think that http://opticalresolutionsinc.com/index.htm can develop and build LF and ULF lenses on demand, they provided the lens for Flint's Gigapixl project and I suppose that they built Clifford...
Protar lenses are excellent, but of course the 550 XXL provides much more modern performances, and infact it's excellent even when shooting 11x14", 12x20" or other "small" formats ;-)
Unfortunately I don't know, Vinny. Sorry
A very special ULF lens: 90 cm of image circle, superb sharpness and quality from center to borders

CastorScan, probably one of the very best scan services in the world, but it's located in Italy, not Canada

Hello "bohngy",
I'd like to ask you some things about the Cezanne.
Might you give me your email address, please?
Thank you very much
Bye
