You should have a 35mm or 35mm to medium format scanner and a flatbed scanner with a transparency adapter. The flatbeds work great for 120- 4X5 but do a horible job. This may sound expensive but I...
Calumet Photographic 415-643-9275
I work at a camera store and one of the digital employees has been working with Canon's 35mm neg scanner with the same program. He says it does a very good job, not quite as well as the Nikon...
I purchased an Acer 1200UT for about $150.00. It has a built in 5X7 transparency adapter. With 120 film it picks up the dots that make up the film description and frame #s. {ex. FUJI NPS160} Yes,...
Taxes {income and sales} are lost money. There is no use in crying or complaining about it because it is the government we chose. If you do not like the policies do something to change them rather...
My 2 cents {1.4 pence in England} Calumet filters are made by Lee and they have several locations in England. www.calumetphoto.com
I forgot that "punch" you see actually what your eye/brain is interpreting due to contrast. Contrast being trying to compress a whole bunch of info into a small F stop range and losing whatever ...
Try shooting a white piece of paper in daylight with a neutral trans. film like EPN. Or use your favorite film so you get the effect you are used to. Process then compare the filter and...
I have just started to venture out into the neg scanning. I have always been dead set on using transparency film because I was told that it was the best option. You do not have to correct for the ...
Check the date it might be new old stock OTOH it might be grey market film. Since the B+W readyloads are not available as a U.S. {if you are writing from the U.S.} product I would assume that they...
Sounds like your labs are running the film through faster and rasing the temp. to compensate to save time and not replenishing their chemicals on time to cut costs. I have even been to Kodak Q labs...
With digital you can pick your printing range {lets say 5 stops} place them where ever you like {tword the highlights or shadows} and manipulate the rest with the levels control. It isn't always...
My name is John and you can reach me at 1-800-CALUMET ex 3351. I can go over the differences with you without being a salesman. There are major differences between the two and the one you choose...
You are probably talking about the 1280. Yes it is an awesome printer. One major drawback though you have to use epson inks because of a little computer chip in the cartrige. A printer you might...
Custom? Calumet has a paramount household to bipost in stock maybe give them a call.
Does the box really say across? Acording to the fuji rep the 100 ASA in europe is actually a dufferent emultion/grain structure/everything.
I'll put my 2 cents in with everyone else. Any one of these are going to be a good performer. The Symar-S or the Sironar are excellent performers. I have heard others say that the 210mms are the...
I had one. It was always an adventure to load. I had a Linhof Technica V and 4 lenses. First all the bag is what it is a bag that's all. If yo want to protect your lenses/camera you need something:...
Yes the do fade after 5-10 years depending on use and will not be as effective. The bulb changing color tword the end of it's life is normal and a completely different issue, get used to it. You...
If it is in good condition buy it!!!!!! Play. Find out what you need. Then sell the rest on ebay. You would probably end up with a free and complete system. As for cams you do not need them to use...
GET THE 110XL! It is a very sharp lens, noticably the sharpest I've owned. The inconvenience of not being abple to fold it in the body is minimal. (used to own a techV} As for size the lens itself...
As a large format guy who has sold all of his equipment to go digital I think I can give some insight on the other side. First as with everything photographic the end result is going to justify the...

I do not know much about the other cameras but also once owned a Technica V. I have also played alot with the Zone VI. Although it doesn't seem to have much substance it holds up quite well and is ...
Why? After buying adapters if they are available or fabricating one it would end up being more than buying a Horseman roll film back {for4X5} They range from 6X6? for sure 6X7 to 6X12. Also you...
Zone VI is not out of business and yes Calumet is the only place where you can buy them. A huge difference when the meter is modified is that the originals have a chrome {yes reflective chrome}...
With the higher end filters the difference is in the glass. First there will be no color cast from the actual glass. Hoya and Tiffen have a slight greenish cast on transparancy film. Now heliopan...
Buy the dual rail rototrim and don't give it a second thought. I would sugegest think about the largest print that you can make, go to the next size up {example if you can print a 16X20 think...
Check out the Calumet film washers. I have heard many good things about them from those who own them {Even the super annal purists} KJP in England is now called Calumet and they have several stores ...
Don't laugh. I use a Acer1200U {$150.00 new} w/built in transparency adapter. And an old Epson Photo 700. With it's 1200 optical DPI {scanner} I can see the dots that make up the film/frame info on...
Why not? Calumet will give you the full original value of the camera if you ever want to move up in the cambo line. They are not a Sinar or Linhof, however great cameras for a fraction of the price.
Keep in mind that the cams for the tec III are LENS and CAMERA specific. If you find these cams they will get you in the ball park you will still have to check focus on the ground glass. John
It can be incredible. It depends of the resolution of your original scan and the quality of your printer. There is a good book on this called MAKING DIGITAL NEGATIVES by Dan Burkholder. Good Luck!...
It should work. The rear element is the one you have to worry about,if it will fit through the front standard opening. For example I have a 360mm tele arton with a 97mm front element and it has...
Well thanks for the info. This has really never happened to me and I can't seem to make it happen with an open film holder and piece of film. I have heard that this was a problem with large format...
I have a question obviously. When using a 4X5 for table top as I remember if the film has a tendency to pop or bow. Does anyone know if a 6x9 120 roll film hold er {Linhof Super Rollex} will do the...
You can get some midtones out of litho film. I forgot how but call Kodak 800-242-2424. I believe it was with dektol developer. Depending on subject mater this film can be quite interesting despite...
Check your lens board to see if it sits properly. I had the same problem with a warped board. Maybe try switching lens boards.
Yes your head will fit on a gitzo. Also you can't go wrong either way. Actually I have a gitzo 2 series and a bogen 3236 that I use with a linhof technica. The bogen, though quite heavy, was great...
