Nice series Jonathan. You didn't get a lot of geometric distortion for a lupe.

I agree with Craig. I've never thought of Ed's light and technique as a handicap or limitation. They're plain wonderful. I'd want my portraits to look like that even with film, strobes or whatever....
The bear I see is biting on a white chocolate bar.
Hello Ed, welcome to my thread. Let me pass on the trophy on to you for this one :D:D:D
Good tonal range! Isn't the correct time 13 min for Tri-x?
I was just going to ask the same thing. I am doing this doors and windows project in my hometown and I can't seem to tame high contrast situations.
I get very dark shadows and blown up highlights...

This one's awesome. Timeless. Daring and brave composition.
Do these models acknowledge the images you provide are a million times better than what they usually get from other photographers? The difference is abysmal.
Funny you... I remember 110º :D
Ah ok, It didn't look like Tucson very much :P
Excellent photo and great story. Where exactly was this taken? It's probably somewhere downtown or the old barrio?
I'd cancel the project. It is outrageous! ;)
Hey Jonathan, are you a socialist or what?! All these abstract geometric compositions!!
:D:D:D
(You're posting amazing work all over the place) ;-)
I was going to make a joke about great photographers being from Oregon and checked Isaac's profile only to find he too s from Oregon!
I am moving there TONIGHT.
That is incredible Theo. I've ruined film with much fresher chemistry. In fact I am saving all exposed film to mix a fresh batch and develop it all at once.
Your last image looks very nice and color...
I imagine you're planning an exhibition soon Ed. Would love to see all this amazing work in person.
Orchids are such a pain. It is REALLY hard to get a good composition. You did awesome. The light is also very very nice. The only thing is the tint, not sure about that :S
Sergei,
I hope you don't take this badly as it is meant as constructive criticism. ;-)
The problem I see with your images is always and mainly Photoshop over use.
(I don't quite understand why...
Adobe is your friend there (here) ;-)
This is simply fantastic. I was just going over Lewis Carroll's works and this just matched perfectly. I really like the pose, her expression and the...
I like the second one. Benefits of not having been there and see the correct orientation.
Question is, why in the hell have you not taken the sign with you???
The whites!!
Funny... a couple days ago I was thinking you two should meet and exchange gear and method and see what comes out.
An oldie.

Wow, those trees in the background are incredible!
Tim Burton's house? I wouldn't want to be there at night.
You are welcome anytime but I will not have only two beers.
He was just trying to prevent a wave of suicides in the photographers community. He is also a nice guy. :D:D:D
This page turned out pretty funny. That church is hilarious
It is really cool to see your girls grow up. I love the younger one's style.
Thanks!

I went to photograph a field of almond trees I had seen the week before and found the owner with his kid burning leaves. They let me walk around their property a bit and the kid finally asked me if...
Excuse the ignorance but, how is it that some of you know the same models?
Same set up as before but without a filter.

Thanks Marko and Adam. I totally agree with you two. Although I like that pictorial dreamy character in the first one. I will try more with the orange filter.
Can't compare it with the other two because I used a meniscus lens instead of the magnifying glass. This is with an orange filter but didn't shoot one without it to compare it with.
It is more...
Thanks! My girl hates it (as usual). This lens (magnifying glass) is better suited for landscapes I think... too wide. But thanks, thanks!
It's all in your head ;-) I love every single image you've posted so far.
That Petzval lens gives me different results every time. It's frustrating... Marko just said something on the Soft focus...
!!!!
Thanks!
I really like it as it is. The greys are fantastic, super nice tonal range. The reflections might bother a little to the more technical oriented photographer/viewer (I would have planned this to...
