Thank you. Is there a combination diaphragm/softness you would recommend for 4x5 portraits? I am using f8 because I would like tohave the entire head in-focus.
Hello,
I am trying to work with a Universal Heliar but I am a bit baffled: are you supposed to focus before or after applying the soft focus? If I focus before even a slight rotation seems to...
@Jim Noel, @Jody_S: thanks. I do have a ground glass. The 2 lens trick seems quite practical.
@domaz: thanks, but I think the helicoid might be shy of infinity.
I have a Cambo 470 Wide which is not quite sharp at infinity. Given that the Schneider 47XL seems to be quite a good lens and that the one I have seems in good condition, I wonder what the problem...
Thank you. So if I understand it right, it is only a matter of perspective between the two focal lengths.
Would 30cm cover? Apart from coverage, is 36cm better for portaits? The difference in length does not seem large.
Thanks
Thank you, Bill. It helps a lot.
Thank you very much.
I thought so, but they are not so common here. Do you have an idea of size? It seems pretty small
Hello,
I need to replace the gg. It is held in place by three clips, which I think I have to loosen. I cannot figure out which kind of screwdriver I need. Help would be much appreciated.
I have one that does not work. Did anyone came up with a cheap replacement for the electronics?
@ericantonio:
1. urbex stands for urban exploration. You can find a good definition of it in a previous page in this thread;
2. the Cambo Wides are simplified field cameras for 4x5 no longer in...

@jp: Verito is my favorite pictorial lens: very nice photo.

@Louis: words of wisdom, Louis. I was more interested in slow speeds, in fact. But I can probably manage anyway: it does have a B and a T. Better see how it works in real situations. Your remarks on...
I want to use it on my Bergheil 9x12. From the (very initial ) tests I did on my Sinar, it looks like a nice lens. I'll be on the look for a Ibsor and other small 80's. Thank you very much for your...
The rear tube diameter reads around 27, which would indicate a Vario 2 and, according to the catalog, a front tube diameter of 29. Does it make sense? All the other shutters have equal rear and front...
Thanks, Dan. So to remove the cells, I should use some sort of wrench with cloth to avoid damage?
Hello,
I have a 80mm WW Aristostigmat in a Vario shutter. The shutter is pretty limited and I would prefer a Compur/Compur Rapid shutter (1950 or so ). Can it be transplanted? The diameter of the...
@bgh: thank you for joining.
@gypsydog: for lack of a better term, I guess. In Italian I would use "abbandoni" which is not mainstream and loosely translates to "abandonments", which seems even worse than urbex. But I am open to...
