this is the rear cell of a symmar 240mm convertible lens. It has concentric circles in the front elements of the rear cell set. They look like scratches, but are too perfectly circular and even.

I can't afford 8x10 film on a regular basis. that said, I did just buy an 8x10 studio camera. For me, there is a huge difference in looking at an 8x10 ground glass vs. a 4x5. Magic. 4x5 seems small...
I see it as silver coated in plastic vs. silver layered on clay and cotton.
Hey, I had a great time meeting Martin and Jesha through this forum. They warmly welcomed me into their wonderfully artistic home which is a work of art itself.
Martin has a great darkroom available...
Hey, There is a pittsburgh photographers group that meets regularly again now and is free and open. www.agworkspgh.wordpress.com
I've been a part of the group since it started and it is a great...
Hi, Welcome from pittsburgh. I'm interested in a regional gathering as are a few friends of mine. thanks
The screws on old ones are slotted, new ones can have hex screws
The Pittsburgh Center for Arts & Media offers a few photo classes. They do have a darkroom.
I received a similar e-mail from ebay. I had to register for ebay managed payments or be excluded from selling.
Worst part is that ebay holds my money longer than paypal and makes money on it...
I would shove a holga in the pack as well
Thanks Jim, part of the recipe is to use the appropriate cut off filter. sometimes less pure IR is more.

I just noticed that the price of arista 8x10 has been lowered at BH photo and others
It is my opinion that if a camera is heavy enough to need to sit on a gitzo g1570, a quick release will introduce issues. I hold my 8x10 deardorff vertically after tilting my gitzo g1370 platform...
I shoot efke IR film which sounds like what you have with the plain label. Rated at ISO3 with a B+W 092 filter. some folks like the even darker hoya R72 filter. The 092 filter lets in just enough...
I use efke IR all the time and never had an issue with any standard film holders. I do have the darkcloth over the back of the camera when slides are removed. some leather bellows are not IR proof....
The presoak water always has a deep blue color with the film I use. I thought that it may be more important with short development times as the film can instantly and maybe more evenly start...
sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the camera you bought is not an 8x10 camera. It is a 5x7 camera and has a 5x7 to 4x5 reducing back on it in the photos.
It's not large enough for and 8x10...
film is important to me and I will buy 4x5 as long as it exists unless my broke self is literally starving. 8x10 prices may become prohibitive as its not as important to me. will 4x5 survive past...
I'm curious at what price point others may give up on sheet film?
I'm poor and the cost of shooting 8x10 is prohibitive. I don't make money shooting film, so the 8x10 gear may have to go.
I'm feeling that 4-5$ per sheet is my limit for 8x10 film
not long ago arista sheet film was cheaper. 8x10 50sheet box is now 189.99
I'm curious to know if this price increase is permanant.
It was shot in an area with no direct light. so the exposure was lengthy. also, I used an old wide angle lens that was missing some interior elements. thanks

Hey Louis, I found some shipwrecks in Baltimore. You should come shoot here sometime.
I've had many cambo bag bellows and my favorite is the nylon petite newer style. There are 2 sizes of newer ones and 2 types of material. the larger baggier new ones are heavier and extend further...

the gitzo 1372 head is tall and has a quick release. both are bad for maneuvering a heavy camera. avoid the quick release as it just adds another point of vibration. The 1570m head is great, but...
You will have to remove the tripod screw to attach the base plate. If you decide to attach the plate, carefully predrill all the screw holes of the outer perimeter. the plate isn't essential and...
