    Re: Curtis Color Scout

I wasn't aware of the links policy. My apologies.

Two Curtis tri-color one-shot cameras were sold this past week on the popular auction site. Now I see that one more has been listed and by the...

    Re: Curtis Color Scout

Hi Alex - the best solution I can think of is to have lots of holders and an assistant to preload them for you. It was typical in the day to carry 18 or so holders in a case.

    I might have Devin...

  7. Re: Making J Lane Positive Plates? (Famous Format Monobath?)

Yes, the backing is applied over the emulsion and the ambrotype is viewed through the glass. I think there's no need to be concerned about viewing through the glass - that was the method. And of...
  8. Re: Making J Lane Positive Plates? (Famous Format Monobath?)

Just a suggestion. To make an ambrotype try exposing and developing another plate so that you get a thin negative. Ambrotypes are actually thin negatives with a black backing.

  17. Re: Has there ever been a retrofocus wide that covers 4x5/9x12 or larger?

Yes, I have one for 4x5 format. I've known of 3 others. The focal length is 133mm and back focal distance is 215mm That would allow infinity focus on a 4x5 Graflex body. They are as common as...
