Re: What a difference half a millimetre makes...

I ran into this problem with my Cambo. I used a toothpick rigidly attached to some straight, unbending rod (I must confess I cannot remember what it was), and adjusted the 'depth' of the toothpick so...

    Re: yongnuo yn-560 III question

I got the CowboyStudio NPT-04 for a pair of yn-560s, and it has done the trick for me. The connector to the Copal shutter was a little loose, but I was able to make it work with very little fiddling....
  3. Re: Which way do you prefer to develop your 4x5 sheet films

+1 for massive dev app on the iPhone. I use the sounds, and have the phone upside down so there's no light. Now if only they'd develop a voice interface so rather than tapping the screen with your...

    Re: Friends in greater Boston

I am the one who posted about using one of MIT's darkrooms (the Student Art Assn. darkroom). MIT will let pretty much anyone take a course that comes with darkroom use; after you've taken a course...

Re: Split Grade Printing with VC Paper

I first gave split-grade a try a few years ago, and once I got the hang of it I've never gone back to single filter printing. I've found that the combination of split-grade printing and f-stop timing...

    Re: Lets See Your Darkroom

Here's some pics of the darkroom I use at MIT's Student Art Association. They offer classes (and independent study) that includes use of the darkroom all year (http://arts.mit.edu/saa/photography/)

    Re: New Camera...stumped

It might be that you have one or more of the standards reversed - the mount flanges (that hold the bellow/GG/etc.) are not symmetric about the part that goes on the rail. I do know that a 135mm lens...

    Re: Friends in greater Boston

Another outdoor place might be Wachusett dam in Clinton - I've not been there in a few years, but it has lots of visually interesting stuff. I recall it also has a lot of steps...

    Re: 4x5 processing method: practical?

I have used trays and hangers; I have access to a real darkroom so developing in the dark isn't a problem (and the Massive Dev app helps with times).

I've been using the tray method for a couple...

    Re: May 2012 Portraits

Not a portrait I took any time recently, but I'm sharing it in May... does that count?

This is likely the very first 4x5 image I took - and still one of my best. The studio flash certainly helps....

    Re: d76 reversal development

This may be a little off-topic, but what is/was the workflow for B&W movie films? Do they use a negative intermediate, or was a B&W reversal process used?

    Just curious...

Re: Poll: Do you use distilled water?

I use filtered tap water for everything except for Photo-flo (Ecco, actually), where I use distilled.

    Re: March 2012 Portraits

    Nana -

    Lovely image - as always!

One question: was this done with flash or warm lights?

    Thanks!

    Re: Good Film Development Timer?

+1 for the Massive Dev iPhone app. I've been developing in trays, and have found it useful.

Pros (in addition to what others have posted):
    - Can set split development times if you're doing N/N-1...
