I know that this is an old thread. I have a somewhat nice similar Darlot Casket set (there is a very long time that I have not used it). #60 engraved before Darlot's name, but not sure at all that it...
Ash,
I quickly tried to locate a copy of "Torses nus" : no result. You could try to send an email to http://www.argentic.fr/, maybe he could help.
I use a JMC810 since early 2003, five years and half now, the first model with three buttons (as I have rather small hands, I've never been disturbed by these ones, and no problen in cold times)....
I received two weeks ago a new P2 from Bruce at Photobackpacker to replace my 8x10" F64 bag. I can only compare it to the F64 and to a Mountainsmith used to carry a 7x17". I have used the F64 for...
I think this not only a quality of O'Sullivan : one is often surprised by the modern look of many early photographs.
My question was first about O'Sullivan landscapes, but I'm also interested by...
Thank you for the titles.
Could you advise me a good book about Timothy O'Sullivan landscapes ? I own and enjoy the two very good books "American frontiers" by Joel Snyder and "Era of exploration" by Naeff and Wood, both with...
Ooops, I forgot the spammers :-( If the moderator could quickly erase my post and Oren's answer...) Is the snail mail address the same than on old Michael's Explorer review ?
Edited : I erased...
I recently wrote to (erased) is it his right address now ?
I thought that Dick was completely retired (I wrote to him some weeks ago, but I guess he and his wife were on the road). I'm afraid that shipping to the USA and back home will be in the 300$ range,...
Yes Tim, must be something like that.
This camera is a pleasure to use. This must be a silly question, I can't figure what are these two metallic parts at the bottom of the back used for ? Neckstrap ? ;)
Just to satisfy my curiosity, Oren, thank you. I've just found a nice Explorer (the same Michael described, unfortunately without levels and bail, but nothing really important here) and was curious...
The recent camera I was talking about had a Sinar board. I read about Explorers with Technika boards, I thought they were special orders.
Hello all,
Who could tell me the differences between the older Phillips Explorer models (like the one Michael Mutmansky reviewed on the Camera reviews section on Tuan's site) and the last version...
It's nice, congratulations !
I have of course read other threads on the camera, but can't remember : how does the rigidity compare to a Phillips ? Is it an easy and "clear" camera to set and use...
I carry three holders in a home-made cotton pouch like Gnass pouches, with an aluminium piece sewed inside to rigidify and a handle on the long side. Drawbacks, it's not padded (not really a problem)...
I often order film from the USA to France without any problem. Shipping by USPS. I ordered HP5 ULF, FP4 ULF, Efke 100 ULF and smaller sizes, TMax 400, no problem.
www.taosphotographic.com in France has good prices on TXP.
Michael wrote above "...and inherent to the reciprocity characteristic is the greater propensity for the film to fog with time, heat, and rediation." I wonder about the relationship between...
I've just read Clay's answer on APUG. I confess I was a bit surprised reading you to imagine that J&C or other would be kind enough to repackage the film, it was just a dream :-) I guess they think...
Thank you Michael, that's better and that's also a good thing for us overseas customers to reduce weight and shipping.

Daniel,
I use 7 x 17 Efke PL100 in Sandy's holders without any problem. These holders are the "classical" cherrywood S&S, not the holders made following the Canham's specs. The film size is 17.6 x...
Ron,
My 13x18 (the 5x7"european size ) Norma with a 30 cm rail and standard bellows weights 4.375 kg. This is a great camera.

I am wondering if an old huge 360 Sironar N nould cover 7x17" ? Its official image circle is 435 mm, not enough, but maybe as for some other lenses it could work fine. I owned one for a while, it was...
I don't know the weight of the Wisner. I use a Berlebach 3012 single-leg extension on my 7x17" Korona, it should also be OK for my future Canham. Weighs 2.9 kg, given for a load capacity of 12 kg...
Canham metal JMC 810
Advertised weight : 4.14 kg (9.13 lbs)
Actual weight : 4.10 kg (9.04 lbs)
With Arca standard plate : 4.21 kg (9.28 lbs)
A mistake in my previous post, the 270 was mounted in a Compur 3, not in a Copal. The lens fits directly in the Compur threads, the front of the shutter being reamed because of the size of the front...
I've just tried a G-Claron 270 WA mounted on a Copal 3. I planned to use this lens (huge and a bit heavy, 980 g shutter included) for 7x17" work. I've been very surprised with the results on 8x10"...
In french :
Serait-il possible, s'il vous plaît, d'éviter d'exposer ces films photographiques pour appareil professionnel aux rayons X qui risqueraient de les endommager, et de les soumettre à une...
Thank you, Richard. It should be easy to make such a support to help the front focusing frame when using heavy lenses.
Could anybody explain what are the four holes with metallic plates under the base of an old 7x17" Korona banquet camera used for ? I guess they could be used to mount another wooden or metallic piece...
Hi all,
I've just bought a used 8x10 Arca camera. For my beginnings, I have the choice b etween two (relatively !) inexpensive lenses : a 300 Symmar and a 240 Symmar S ( both mounted on electronic...
I did. Look here : http://hv.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=00944c
Bergger in Paris <http://www.bergger.fr> sells 11 x 14 and larger sheet films.
From a Bruce Wehmann's email :
"...The website is being re-built pending the introduction of a new version of the Wehman Field Camera... You can view the old site at: ...
I simply use a self-adhesived 1mm thick plastic sheet with 5mm thick dense foam-rubber sticked on it, with two holes on the edge for holding a rubber band.
Does anybody know the approximative weight of a 8x10" monorail Arca ? It's not a F-line, but one of the previous models, with chrome standards and axis tilt. Th e seller can't tell me.
TMAX 100 single sheet Readyloads are available at Prophot in Paris (I recently bought several boxes). The single sheet Readyload holder is not yet avalaible.
