  1. Re: Good choice for a 5x7 wide angle?

I still think we're missing too many variables.
  2. Re: Good choice for a 5x7 wide angle?

If cost, weight, size are not issues, the following are what I would choose for a complete arsenal of wide-angle optics for 5x7. In my opinion, these are the best of the best.

    72mm SAXL
    90mm SAXL...
  3. Re: Good choice for a 5x7 wide angle?

I disagree that 240mm is normal for 5x7. I think most of us agree that 210mm is spot-on... if we use the diagonal of the actual image area for calculative purposes.
  4. Re: Good choice for a 5x7 wide angle?

Jarvman, what are your existing lenses? How wide do you want to go? What kind of quality do you expect? Are size and weight of any concern? What do you mean by "plenty of coverage" (how much movement...

    Re: Center ND filter?

For 4x5, I have center filters for all my wide-angle lenses, even the 110mm. I don't ever want to be limited by the equipment I own. I may decide not to use one for a given shot but I want the option...

  12. Re: Favourite lenses for 8x10" vs. 4x10"

To my eyes the difference in perceived field of view between standard and panoramic ratios is minimal. For instance, a 300mm used on 8x10 vs. 4x10 will look nearly the same regarding perspective....

  28. Re: 4x5 Extended Red Films... Rollei RPX 25, RPX 400... Any 100 ASA ??

Thank you, Alex. I've read that Rollei Retro 400s is even slower than 200 ISO... maybe 100 or 160. I've never used it so I don't know. Is the grain on par with typical 160-200 ISO films.
  29. 4x5 Extended Red Films... Rollei RPX 25, RPX 400... Any 100 ASA ??

I'm aware that Rollei RPX 25 and 400 ISO films have extended red sensitivity. I'm NOT looking for true infrared films. But... are there any 4x5 100 ISO films similar in spectral sensitivity to Rollei...

Replace the cap. Nothing is going to work in a wet environment and being warped/bent to close/open... no adhesive will ever keep it together.
