Thank you! Those rocks were clearly defined in the other exposures, which I found to be distracting. This one turned out much closer to what I was hoping for.

The cameras mentioned in this thread are all very, very different from one another. Don't spend too much on your first 4x5 camera, there's a good chance it won't be what you really want. It's...
I replaced the ground glass on my 2D from this ebay seller for about $30. It's not the greatest but it works fine and fits properly - I'm just not terribly picky about GG.
First time using RVP 50 in awhile. Part of me feels like the saturation is too much...otoh, that's pretty close to what I had in mind when I drove past this place.

Thanks! These were all Velvia 100.
A few from a trip through South Dakota:

Fuji Velvia 100, SA 90/8, I think...
I have those bellows on my V, the material looks and feels nice, seems very solid. Definitely light tight. The only issue was that I had trouble folding the camera up at first - it had a tendency to...
Ha, I opened the images before reading that, and immediately thought it looked like something around Baraboo...been meaning to get out that way myself. Very nice!
I'm not sure I understand the request in this thread....don't post photos on flickr because they won't show up if you delete them later? Why would that be any different from any other host?
Try the unofficial dilution "H", which I believe is 1:63 and double the dev times as B. I found that I tended to overdevelop with B, but the longer dev times with H give me a little more room for...
New to 8x10, so I just started playing with paper negatives while I wait for some film to arrive. Don't have a real 8x10 lens either, but I've found that my 210mm Symmar almost works...

Maybe something like an Industar-51? Cheap, lots of them available (if you can wait for them to ship from Russia) and no shutter.
All of my Copal 0 shutters are marked that way. It confused me at first too, which is why I still have a Copal 00 lens board sitting around doing nothing...
Don't be afraid of a cheaper first camera - as others have said, you'll probably decide you want something different, and end up selling it. I started with a Speed Graphic with no movements, then...
I have a bunch that I need to scan, but I'm happy with the performance on color. Here's one on Provia:

I feel like this is a dumb question, but I don't really know the details of the rangefinder's mechanics, and I haven't been able to find an answer.
I'm looking at a 150mm Symmar-S to replace my...
Yep, the century is 2x3. Indeed, getting the right parts can be complicated, so starting with a complete kit is definitely a good idea.
Nah, the real embarrassment will come when you develop a pile of sheets that were never exposed. Not that I would ever do such a thing...
I've had some good luck at garage sales, antique stores, thrift stores and craigslist.
Yashica T4 for $2
Rollei 35 for $8
Contax 139Q w/ Distagon 28/2.8 for $60
Technika V for $450
Yashica-Mat...
Those kits are complete, though I'd skip the Century Graphic because you'll be limited to roll film backs. (edit: you will also need film holders, a changing bag, and probably a dark cloth)
Lenses...
Sounds like a press camera such as a Graflex Crown/Speed Graphic is exactly what you're looking for. They're hand-holdable (for a LF camera, at least), usually come with a normal lens (135 or 150mm)...
Just ordered the ecbuyonline2008 bellows for my beater Technika too, will add my thoughts once it arrives and I have a chance to try them out. Even if they're crap, I'm sure it's still way better...
I got my first gen Speed Graphic w/ 150mm CZJ Tessar (along with a Mamiya 645) on craigslist ($80 total for both). Still works great, just a fairly limited camera.
Second camera was a pretty...
I just picked one of these up at a garage sale for $20, and I have to say, it looks pretty capable. Its all metal, seems to be pretty solidly built, and has as much movement capability as I've seen...
Thanks guys, the Meridian on ebay is actually fairly close to me, so I'll contact the seller to see if I can check it out beforehand. If not, I may take you guys up on the offers.
Michael, that...
Ivan - the Meridian sounds great, definitely have an eye on that one on ebay.
Frank - Definitely not excluding other field cameras...I don't specifically need a press camera but I do like the...
Cool, thanks everybody for the input. Sounds like the Pressman might be out, since I'll probably add longer and wider lenses to my collection at some point. I'll keep an eye out for a Super...
I currently have a 4x5 pre-Anniversary Speed Graphic. I think its great, love the results I've gotten, but its not in the greatest shape and I'm interested in upgrading. I think I'd like another...
