  1. Re: Shutter Release Cable - connection problem

Update: inspected the inside of the socket with a loupe and looks clean. Definitely nothing stuck in there
  2. Re: Shutter Release Cable - connection problem

Thanks, Bob. I'll take another look at it with a loupe, and was thinking of bringing it in to a repair shop anyway to have my shutter speeds tested.

Note, by mint I meant the lens, shutter,...
  3. Re: Shutter Release Cable - connection problem

That's the thing -- according to the consensus here and demonstration by my local analog photo shop, it *is* threading correctly. Seems as though the tapered threads were designed as "universal fits"...
  4. Re: Any tips for buying older/used LF lenses on the auction site?

Just wanted to thank everyone again for all the tips and assistance in this thread. I bought my 150mm lens from user shinjiii2012 in Japan who had a 100% positive feedback and I'm happy to report...
  5. Re: Shutter Release Cable - connection problem

Bob, I'll give that a look with a loupe but with the naked eye, it looks clean in there.
  6. Re: Shutter Release Cable - connection problem

Steve, not sure if it's ever been re-tapped. Bought the lens used off Ebay, but it's in mint condition.
  7. Re: Shutter Release Cable - connection problem

Thanks, everyone, for the reassurance that it's normal for it to not thread all the way.

I snugged it up a bit more and that removed the play. Also visited a local shop and their tapered Minette...
  8. Shutter Release Cable - connection problem

I just purchased two shutter release cables with tapered threads (a 12" Nikon AR-3 and a 20" Pentax 50) but I'm having trouble getting them to seat properly in the threaded hole for my Copal No.0...
  9. Re: Any tips for buying older/used LF lenses on the auction site?

    Sweet!

I recently had interest (from int'l friends) in some lenses I was selling on Facebook but they expressed concern about getting hit with extra import charges, so I was wondering why those...
  10. Re: Any tips for buying older/used LF lenses on the auction site?

Jim, those are great points. When I shot digitally, I had to correct myself after a year or two of being gear-obsessed when I came to the realization that vision and skill are the only things that...
  11. Re: Any tips for buying older/used LF lenses on the auction site?

Did any of you guys who live in the US and purchased from Japan (or outside the US) have to pay import duties, taxes, or any additional charges?
  12. Re: Any tips for buying older/used LF lenses on the auction site?

Wow. You guys have been incredibly awesome. When I get some more time, I might directly respond to a few of the responses but all in all, I feel much better about buying used online thanks to all of...
  13. Any tips for buying older/used LF lenses on the auction site?

I'm shopping around for lenses and was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on what to look out for when buying a used lens online and sight unseen. I'm noticing a lot of the lenses are being...
  14. Re: MOD54 vs. Jobo 2509n minimum developer for 6-sheet inversion processing

Leigh, this discussion actually brings me to some general questions I had about contrast.

Given that longer exposures get even longer due to reciprocity failure, and since when that happens,...
  15. Re: MOD54 vs. Jobo 2509n minimum developer for 6-sheet inversion processing

Interesting. So it's kind of a contrast control method. In that case, compensating developer is certainly of interest to me.

    ...and the decision gets harder.
  16. Re: Is it possible to change your username in the control panel?

Much appreciated, Rick. Just reported the post.
  17. Re: MOD54 vs. Jobo 2509n minimum developer for 6-sheet inversion processing

Thanks, Leigh, for the helpful information once again. Not quite grasping the concept of compensation so I'll have to look that one up.
  18. Is it possible to change your username in the control panel?

I'd like to change my username but am not seeing that option in my control panel.

If not, can the site administrators do that?

I contacted the mods about it but no response to that and 2 other...
  19. Re: MOD54 vs. Jobo 2509n minimum developer for 6-sheet inversion processing

Yeah, the loading (judging by the videos) was something I saw myself struggling with from the start but given how many people have success with it, I figured I was being silly. The Jobo, however,...
  20. Re: MOD54 vs. Jobo 2509n minimum developer for 6-sheet inversion processing

Thanks, Huub, and yeah, that's what has me second guessing inversion processing all together.

    Re: detail expectation

Bruce, would you mind expanding on what class of scanners you would consider "consumer level flatbed" vs. "professional level flat bed?"

And to clarify, when you say 4x enlargement, you're...
  22. Re: MOD54 vs. Jobo 2509n minimum developer for 6-sheet inversion processing

    Halford, wow, that's a Paterson 3-reel tank (the PTP116)?
  23. Re: MOD54 vs. Jobo 2509n minimum developer for 6-sheet inversion processing

Out of curiosity, what is considered to be a decent efficiency of chemistry per slide when it comes to inverting 4x5? I guess the SP-445 sets the mark at like 120ml per slide?
  24. Re: MOD54 vs. Jobo 2509n minimum developer for 6-sheet inversion processing

I had looked into that one but came across a fairly recent thread (forgot which website, APUG maybe?) where people were having issues with bent film holders leading to streaking on the back side of...
  25. Re: MOD54 vs. Jobo 2509n minimum developer for 6-sheet inversion processing

Graham, the way you framed it makes sense. So the Jobo is simply much fatter (even though it's shorter). And the "girth" allows it to be super efficient at rotary since only a small amount of...
  26. Re: MOD54 vs. Jobo 2509n minimum developer for 6-sheet inversion processing

Thanks, Leigh. That's helpful info to keep in mind. I'm new to film photography in general, so I'll be sure to check the developer spec minimum as my first concern and always use at least that amount...
  27. MOD54 vs. Jobo 2509n minimum developer for 6-sheet inversion processing

I'm planning to start out with hand-inversion processing of 4x5 sheet film and am stuck between the MOD54 (in a Paterson 3-reel tank) vs. the Jobo 2509n (in a 2520 2-reel tank).

    Aside from the...
