bob, i was wondering when you would drop in;-)
there is a linhof viewfinder.
the newer one covers 75-360 mm iirc.
well, then i would rather look at the famous auction site instead.
i believe for buildings you will need an extra till/shift/rise than the master technika will offer you. i myself have a technika v,...
there is a major difference between the two models:
the classic is able to take lenses down to 72 mm without an additional wide angle device. and the widest lens with the device is 58 mm f i am not...
i can't really recommend one camera over the other, i myself use a technika V which is a perfect camera for my purpose portrait and landscape.
as someone said before, the lens will be the deciding...
i don't know whether this point messes up everything:
i myself use the grafmatics with great results, perfect focus etc.
i think the issue glenn is pointing out could be one of the problems...
simon,
i have got a III where the aluminium frame is chromed! i believe that was the way linhof finished the bodies trimmings in the early 50's. since mine was very clean when i got it i just had...
i too shoot both. 4x5 for clients and personal work and digital for clients. since i knew they don't need very large formats, a 10.2mp canon was okay and i did not buy it – they had to ;-)). i would...
i have a minolta spotmeter f.
maybe i didn't know how to use my minolta autometer III correctly so i had a lot of wrong exposures in the past. ever since using the spotmeter f all exposures come...
i don't know anything about graflex cameras, but a linhof super rollex may fit since your back has the sliding holders. maybe you have a chance to check with one from a used equipment store? or snd a...
chris,
jiri is right, for the 3x4 filmpack you need another holder. it would be the polaroid 405.
i have no idea whether fuji has an equivalent. but i would suppose so.
there is one going on...
and of course jerry: welcome to large format!!!! enjoy it to the fullest!
you will see, it's a real PITA and the greatest pleasure at the same time.
don't lose interest when you find you make a lot...
sorry jerry,
there was a typo: it should be polaroid 550 holder for the fp-100 c45 film.
you might check the prices for either polaroid or fuji holders and decide.
to my feeling fuji holders...
jerry,
since polaroid itself has stopped production there is fuji left. they manufacture packfilm in two different sizes. one for 4x5 size and a smaller, cheaper version. the 4x5 film is called...
another thing.
i have a V. the track has to be set back to the housing bed to get the proper position for the 90 mm lens at the infinity stop. only my 150 and 210 lenses are set having the track...
robert,
i believe it would be a good idea to get in touch with richard ritter at info@lg4mat.net.
as far as i know he can still calibrate technika III's and possibly advise you on anything you...
i used a minolta autometer III and made a lot of miscalculations which often ended up in underexposed or overexposed pictures.
changed to a minolta spotmeter f and have had very good results ever...
to me 35 mm and 4x5 as the smallest large format are light years away from each other.
the way i handle things i would never get the "same" sort of results using these formats. its not all about the...
francesco,
i believe it is meant to be like that. mine are different as well. i have not used it so far, since i had the 4x5 545 before.
just send bob salomon at hp marketing or marflex an email and i am sure they will respond in telling you how to purchase at what cost.
best is to have a look at cameraquest.com or get hold of the linhof book of cameras.
what specs do you actually need? the V is close to the master except for the angle of tilt on the lens standard...
depending on what the individual considers to be a portrait/ head and shoulders/head and torso/up to half length thighs ...i have experienced good results from 150mm right up to 300mm for 4x5. ...
hi orlandus,
the V is an excellent camera and will work very well with all your lenses. i believe it may be a bit more demanding working with the 75mm since the lens will be quite a bit in the...
fred,
not sure whether you expect to find new or used grafmatics? as far as i know if you found "new" ones, they would be new old stock since they were discontinued quite a while ago. but this...
got a picture of the back, can you ask for the serial number, robert?
if you get a number, try to contact bob salomon at hp marketing. he should be able to tell you whether III or IV.
robert,
as far as i know the only real difference between the two 5x7 models III and IV nwas the change in leatherette color from black to tan. only from the model IV to V there were major...
deutsches bundespatent = german federal patent
thomas,
i do not know what weight you are willing to carry, but the feel of the technika 4x5 you are looking for could be the one of a ...technika 18x24.
have you seen this one? ebuy:...
kev,
now there were two different ratchets on the model V.
an earlier one made of plastic with a white tip and an all metal black ratchet.
if it is the early ratchet, just pull out the white...
frank,
i am not sure whether it was not just an issue with the technika III.
the instructions say "don't close camera without cam installed." (literal translation from german).
now i have no...
sorry: "unusual"
thanks wilbur,
so you are the next to report an "unusal" problem!
maybe we could start a statistic?
bob,
i can see all your points and i am sure a few issues come up from the age of the individual camera or the unprofessional use by the owners.
and maybe you are right about "common" problem. i...
bob,
i really appreciate you being here on this forum with all your experience you share with us. ... and how you are up in arms when anybody attacks the company or its products! but i believe...
hi dick,
yes, it is possible without any problem. i have done it to two cameras. once with the plastic lever (linhof color with knob=technika IV) and once with the all metal one.
you just have to...
you must have accidently flipped the picture showing the whole camera.
the leather grip is on the left side of the camera not the right side.
so you should be still having the knob rise. i was...
nino,
your camera is a technika IV, built probably 1956-57. the serial numbers for this model started at 62501. the IV was built right up till 64.
now it seems as if somebody has replaced the...
of course your lens is longer than 11.75" ...
just an example.
tim,
just saw your lens tele-tessar 500mm and the matching lens case (beautifully worn tan leather) at a local camera shop opposite the lab i use. asked the guys whether they would sell the case...
hi pjotr,
for the IV's and V's i believe all the gear tracks for front rise were made of plastic.
and yes, with poor handling (screw not tightened enough) they are prone to wear.
i had to...
