Hey, John,
Things are great! Hope life is treating you well too.
That Berlebach was a nice little 4x5 tripod, but my Sinar 5x7 dwarfed it. :p
As for the video, "deliberate" is the right word...
You're welcome, Carl.
Whether it was his attention or not, the video maker did a great job of showing the camera in operation without fluff or sales pitch. It's too bad he lost his audio the last...
Last night, in my search for wooden field camera "reviews," I came across this Youtube video of the Shen Hao 5x7. I wouldn't call this video a straight review or how-to, it's more like a...
Hey, Jim,
I was half-kidding; you're efforts are best spent, in my view, making more art.
It just so happens you were working in a different medium this time. :)
~Mark
Wow, Jim. That is one sweet setup, bro.
...I'd like to place my order now... ;)

I attended my first workshop with Per back in 2003 when I had just began shooting with LF. He became a great mentor, friend and an inspiration to me. Words cannot express how much I will miss him.
...
You're spot-on. It seems as though that's what we're coming to...or something close to it...or so I hope. ;)

Good point, Ed. I'm facing the unenviable prospect of talking her down from the 24x36 framed print size she thinks she wants. Delicately resetting her expectations seems to be in my future. :p
...
Thanks for the question. I hate to even type this... It's apparent that my friend's mom has no idea what quality images fetch. She wants to hang 8 prints at an average cost of $200 per...
Really? So, am I to assume that this is going to require a good deal of legwork and multiple sources to make this happen? Oh, me. :p

Hey, all,
I'm hoping that those members who make their living shooting residential architecture or know someone who does can help me out with business proposal. I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area,...
Or, at that price point, you might consider this Arca F-Line Metric offered on the FS forum...

FWIW, I've owned a Discovery and...
No worries, Steven. What you provided is still useful information for myself and anyone else who prefers to find a fix before venturing a replacement.
Just thought I'd ad this to the mix.
It's alive! It's alive!! Thanks so much, IC!
I hooked the StopClock "Mains input connector" to my wall outlet via a 3-prong extension.
I hooked the...

I hooked the StopClock "Mains input connector" to my wall outlet via a 3-prong extension.
I hooked the StopClock "Enlarger Connector" to the...
I have an RH Designs StopClock (f-stop timer) that I acquired for another enlarger. When I picked up an L1840 Durst a while back, it became clear that these two units may not work together, at least...
Late to the party...very nice work just the same, Ed.
I especially like your interior shots in the Fort Pickens Gallery...even more than the Fort Barrancas interiors from your "Coastal Defense...
Thanks for the extra pic and explanation, Steven!
I've attached pics of the "patched" bellows. The repair seems flexible, and yet, durable.
Hey..wait..where is it? (circled in red). :p
~Mark
I dabbed some fabric paint on the larger of the two wear points today...looks promising. I'll post pics once it's cured. Ironically, that one wonky pleat not withstanding, the bellows look almost...
Macgyver is in the house!
I cut down two sides of the flange; just enough so that it would clear the top slider and bottom slot of the Technika adapter board. I backed the flange with a vulcanized...
Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I especially like the ones you offered Struan. Having the hole widened and a new flange made would be ideal, but I think I'll try working a little magic on the old...
I have a "flange" for the lens.
It's a cast aluminum beauty that only a mother could love.
Check out the pics. The flange with ~77mm threads and the lens board with a ~76mm hole.
And, yes,...
Oh...it is?
I'll guess I'll stop looking for that tube of Super Glue then too. :p
It's hard to argue your point, Brian. "Tight budget" and "custom" anything are generally mutually exclusive.
But with that said, it never ceases to amaze me the conversations and ingenuity that...
Hey, Vinny!
You and your ABS...everything. :p
I have a Toyo-made board, and my first impulse was to try and thread it on, but I think the opening is just a bit too small. That, and I was...
Thanks, Richard! I agree. I think our posts passed each other on the way to the site. :)
I've noted the limitations I'm working with in post #3.
I'll be making a front-mount Packard shutter...
You're right, Nathan. Generally speaking you use a mounting flange or a retaining ring to attach lens to board.
In this instance, there isn't room for the custom mounting flange that was made for...
I'd like to thread a lens board hole but I'm no machinist. I know that SK Grimes would happily do it and charge me more than the board cost in the first place. Not my first choice.
So, my...
I know you will, Bob. No worries here. :)
~Mark
Nice to know that there's more than one way to skin a cat...or repair a bellow for that matter.
Useful info, John and Ian! And bob...you're a good egg, mccarthy! :)

The "for sale" thread has been purged for convenience sake. So, as a frame a reference, I've added some pics of the system here. Oh...small correction that appeared in the ad...there is no rear base...
Thanks for the tip ic-racer! I've always tried to avoid over-taxing the lift arm by supporting most of the weight with my hand and usinf the lift arm as a directional device.
I press the lift arm...

Thanks for being the voice of reason, Frank. I knew I could count on you. :)
Michael, relatively light, in this case, means 13 pounds sans lens.
But, with that said, compared to other 8x10's,...
As a point of reference, the last two times (the latest being last August) I saw an Arca 8 x10 Model A/B/C sell here, they sold for around $1,000 and their "normal" bellows were very short by 8x10...
I never thought I’d be posting this thread, but I’m giving serious thought to selling my Arca Swiss Model C 8x10 system. I can already hear it… “What!? Are you crazy?” Possibly, but that’s a story...
Thanks again, everyone!
~Mark
More great ideas! Sweet...Thanks!
I will have fans at both ends of the system, each wall mounted outside the darkroom. The darkroom interior is about 11.5' x 8.5' with a 10.5' ceiling. Big enough...
And you're not dead yet, eh, Matt? ;)
Do you have any digi pics you can email me? If you need my email, let me know.
THNX!
