    Re: Newbie question.....

I should have added that it will pay you to sacrifice a couple of sheets of your film so that you can practice loading / unloading your darkslides in daylight.

    Re: Newbie question.....

Here's a youtube clip which may be of help. It deals with Kodak colour film but the use of Ilford film is the same except that the inner bag is black plastic and just folded over.
  3. Re: Problem Solving Advice Needed: Black spots on Efke film

Will’s suggestion seems very sensible to me and it’s the course of action I would follow. One change at a time is the way to go.

Re: USA to UK electrical converter

You are now unlikely to come across any other than the 13amp socket here, these have 3 rectangular pins as the adaptor in Riverman's post. Rdenney's advice is also good.

  10. Re: If the plane of focus is a half-inch at the easel...

The available depth of field is a factor of the lens focal length and aperture. I suggest that you raise one side of a 16x12 easel by several inches, eyeball focus an image around the centre, and...

I have one and it gives me good results, but as others have said, there are lighter 300mm lens if you are only going to 5x4.

Whilst the use of a wash aid can reduce over all washing time that which you mention seems much too short to me. I would stay with the 60 minutes minimum.

Re: What is the "AURA" effect with IR film?

The flaring effect is much more evident in the smaller formats due to due to the greater degree of enlargement generally employed.

    Re: Agitation when rotary processing

My guess is that it must be as you are less lightly to experience bromide drag marks which can be caused through regular flow pattens. However, as a confirmed tray processor I cannot be sure.

    Re: L1200 neg. carrier??

I have used top glass only, but now use 5x4 glass top and bottom for all formats and using the adjustable blades to mask off stray light. It just saves time when canging formats.

Re: Just bought a Zone VI 54 in the UK

I second Donald's comments - don't polish. The metal work is lacquered, which is why any scratches go dark as the underlying metal tarnishes.

Re: Why Aren't There More 4x5 Reflex Cameras?

Mirror slap can easily be avoided on a Mamiya RB/RZ simply by using the Mirror-Up facility, I assume that a 5x4 reflex would incorporate the same facility.
