Here is one cheaper source of RAM for those in the UK. I bet there are even better deals out there.
The part number is Kingston KTA-MB667/2G
Maybe there are other types which are compatible.
I think I can answer the LCD-related question. Apple is using white LEDs rather then separate R, G, B LEDs, and therefore there is no improvement in the gamut.
I also found a post in which someone...
Good question. Been trying to find the answer myself. That's not easy without knowing the exact specification of the required RAM.
Another excellent question! Some new LED monitors have a...
That's not what Apple writes:
"Dual display and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on an external display, both...
George, I didn't misread the charts.
Being longer does not make it better. If you believe that then just go get yourself a 1000mm lens ;)
Yes the Canon has a larger max app and that's nice to...
I looked into it and there are several Leica lenses which are significantly better than the Canon 200 L (and therefore all Canons).
Canon 200L

George, I have no doubt that the 200/1.8 is a great lens. I have heard nothing but good about it but that seems to be Canon's best ever lens and out of production (so not exactly representative!) and...
That is plain wrong. Leica outperforms the Canon equivalents at almost all focal lengths (Zeiss too). The biggest difference is wide open performance. Stopped down, well many lenses are very similar...
Well the Hy6 won't be cheap but a) it is in line with the only real competition (Hass), and b) it is a leap forward compared to the 6008AF (which I use).
The image quality itself won't be any...
Although it is fairly obvious, it should be said that scanning backs require special light conditions, and extremely stable white light doesn't come cheap. Apart from that, they do seem to be the...
I am looking for a Rollei film back adapter to fit a 6x9 camera, ideally a pre-F Line Arca Swiss. I can probably adapt it a little if required. Any ideas where to get this? Cost?
It should look...
Is anyone able to show me a sample taken with a Schneider Digitar 28mm lens? Would be appreciated!
Dominique, do you have any link to that item? As far as I know AS has no website.
Bob, thanks for the info but I have a Rollei 6008 interface, not Hasselblad V, and a Hass V interface on its own...
I am about to receive my Sinar eMotion22 with Rollei 6008 adapter.
Rollei makes something called the Panshot which adapts a digital back with Rollei mount to the X-ACT camera, but I believe that...
I just discovered there is a new Sinaron CPL series of lenses which includes a 28mm.
Has anyone tried these?...
so that's all?
What are the lens options below or at 30mm? All I need is 645 coverage so I assume any large format lens can handle that.
So far I know of these:
Schneider Apo-Digitar XL24
Schneider Digitar...
GPS, you just put your finger on the problem :)
That's disappointing. At least there is 6x6 (Hass V) - the Linhof Rapid Slide Changer

I have no film back at the moment and it makes sense to get a sliding back adapter (preferably 645) which I can substitute for a digital back later in an almost seamless transition.
At the moment I can only look at my new (used) AS 6x9 camera with no film back. The next step in the project is to get a sliding film back adapter, but these seem to be horrendously expensive.

Jason was right. Thanks!

My Arca Swiss 6x9 arrived today. Everything seems to be in working order but I have no idea how to keep the shutter open. The only way I can see...
Large drum scanners can handle this size. Not cheap though, so perhaps you can find a place to give you cheap rates when the scanner operator is not so busy.
Emmanuel, wow - that was SUPER HELPFUL! Thanks.
This was a bit of an impulse purchase, and will be a project camera. I hope to add a digital back in time, and extra lenses of course.
Did I goof? Does anyone know anything about this model?
I...
I can get a new one at a good discount, Hass V mount. No details yet, just getting a feel for the interest.
What is your budget for a new back?
You're absolutely right, and I do describe myself as a 'beginner' at this stage. I understand movements and I've played with a Sinar before, so I feel comfortable with the concept and in fact enjoy...
There are no Rollei X Acts on ebay, and the only new price I have seen for the camera so far is over 4000 euros. On the other hand, there are used Sinar P 4x5 cameras going for a few hundred. Hmm......
Thanks, Gordon, I'll look into those options. Of course I am looking into the medium format cameras too, but none of them have a significant range of movements, if at all. Convenient and flexible,...
Thanks, I had seen links 2 and 3 before but not #1, which was very interesting. It helped to answer a few questions, but not all :)
Hello all, I just joined the forum and hope to learn something about view cameras.
I might be buying a Phase One digital back and I'm rather interested in the possibility of using this on a view...
