BTW the Robert Hughes of The Fatal Shore fame is not the same person as myself. I'm just a guy with a lucky name.
Apparently Richard Mahoney finds women and children to be nauseating. Guess that explains why he spends his time in the basement...
Wait a minnit! That photo's not in color. You trying to pull something over on us?
Reminds me of going shopping the other day with my guitar playing teenaged stepson. He has visions of screamo metal stardom, with endless fame, fortune and beaucoup hawt tail awaiting him as soon as...
Nice stuff. Do you know Monica from Cranford? If so, give her my regards.

Oops, misread the title. I thought it was "Nude in the Darkroom".
Yikes!
Where do those pixies come from? Do they spring full-grown from the developing baths?
That's aurible spelling!
So you would rather have full-on lighting burn up the remaining image on those prints for your personal gratification? Who cares about viewers 100 years from now that might want to see the original...
I tried to use my 4x5 camera yesterday, but it was too cloudy for a decent shot. I think I'll sell it and go digital. Then I can get perfect photos every time.
I've got a couple nice S8's also including a Beaulieu 4008 ZM2 in rough shape. I wouldn't mind getting it refurbed, if I were ever going to use it again.
I remember, as a Boy Scout in the 1960's, camping in what had previously been a chestnut forest. All around were these rotted stumps of trees that had been felled decades before; easy firewood! All...
OTOH he was pretty smart with a camera, and wrote some handy books on the technical side, so I guess he wasn't completely useless. :p
Reminds me of that line (Laurie Anderson? Steve Martin? Frank...
Not all throwable cameras are catchable.
Reminds me of one of the back-to-the-landers in Minnesota many years back. The power company had him move his trailer out from under the power lines. He had the trailer wrapped with about 2 miles of...
She would make a perfect model for Coors Lite!
Why would you want everything in focus? Phone cameras do that already.
My friends keep giving me old 620 rollfilm TLR's. How do I get them to stop?
What fall color (duh)?
D'oh! Hoisted on my own Pacer...
I believe they are called "tangs". My kids love Tang! One of them breathlessly told me the other day, "You know, Astronauts drink Tang!"
I've got a Bell & Howell Eyemo 35mm motion picture camera that was originally used by newsreel journalists in the 1930's & 40's. Since then, Hollywood has used these durable boxes as "crash cameras",...
It's possible your ground glass is not seated properly at the film focus point - or the film holder itself is not seated properly.
One way to test your camera's focus would be to photograph a...
Tom, that tree with ivy is useless, passe and completely boring. I can't believe you put the whole tree into focus.
(Just kidding; see above post).
I'm a fountain pen collector also! A word of caution for FP newbies - don't try to put India Ink through a fountain pen, it will clog up the ink channels and permanently ruin the pen. But India Ink...
Szallol, that tree with ivy is remarkable. I like how you kept the entire foreground tree in focus.
AA did run at least part of the "moonrise" negative through an intensifier bath because of the thinnness of the image.
If you're lucky, you'll still be married when she's really old.
I'll remember to use that passage next time I'm on a political forum.
I was in a coffeeshop this morning, where all along one wall, some photographer was displaying a series of prints bearing all the symptoms of digital excess: HDR and stitching to ridiculous extremes....
One of the smartest things that Bill Gates ever did was to choose the right grandparents...
Wazoo was what Weegee used. But BATF won't let us use it anymore...
That you can make a perfectly good camera out of card stock and 1x1 lumber.
Very nice, szadow. And cool glasses!
I do all b&w in my basement. I tried color developing once, it worked OK I guess, but it seemed like more trouble than it was worth. Especially considering I could take it down the street and pay...
If I can't count the hairs on the bacteria crawling across her face, then it's not sharp enough.
Oops, misread the thread title: "LF Forum on Hockney's failings".
Well, we're glad you like LF and the IQ180 Tim, but going up against rdenney and other long time photographers is not helping your case.
