what type of trees are those? With the DOF they look like a Taraxacum and as if the subject is miniaturized, I love how it plays in my mind.

I am not sure about the scanning part but the Impossible 8x10 should be able to give you a negative. See these videos:

Alan's method in the video is to apply the Fresnel to the inside of the holder (i.e. in front of the GG - Fresnel facing lens) it takes him a bit of dremel work to get the Intrepid to take it.
