Super!!! Lovely dogs!
I'm curious, how much does their stuff cost??? I just got a 4990 since my V600 won't do LF and while the film holders are higher quality (stiffer plastic) than the ones that came with the V600 I...
This is my first LF camera....just getting to learn how to use it...its a Crown Graphic special.

Very nice! And you got the Ansel Adams thing going on...using your roof as a platform for shooting :)
I have to agree with you Auditor. While I stand by what I said earlier you have made an excellent point. We do now have the option to bring that digital to make sure we get an image in a...
Jim and Vaughn...great images. Vaughn, there is something different about how your images look in terms of contrast, etc. that seems different than what I"m used to...the fact they're blue...
I tested the camera for light leaks (extended the bellows, opened the shutter and pointed a flashlight through it) both with the film holder in (and I think I did it with the film holder out as well)...
Good point Hans! If you follow they professional digital guys they need to upgrade every year or two to keep up to date. Some, like Jared Polin (FroKowsPhoto) actually has a plan for handling...
Thank you Leigh and Zak for your advice. I'm going to have to follow up on both of your advice, label and note my film holders and do the suggested light leak test. Ivan, LOL ...I think I have one...
Yes Leigh...tnx...good catch on 1 and 4...image 1 was in-fact scanned upside-down. The interesting thing is 2 and 3...which were both scanned properly have the flare on the opposite side of the...
Well bought indeed!!!! Enjoy!
Thank you Fran and Zak for your feedback!! Yes, it was quite a buzz to see images. I think It was probably the tank or how I inserted the film or removed/put in the darkslide rather than the...
I still have about 6 more to develop but here are my first 4 LF negatives with my Crown Graphic..I used the "taco" method (most practical for now) and D76 developer. I also have a new (used) scanner...
Very nice images!!! I'm a very different demographic (lets just say I'm old enough to be your Mom :)) but in the same photographic boat. I started with digital, got into film and like you went to...
Thanks Les, yes, that's where I eventually found it..
I did end up taking the advice of Ginette and found the 4990 with everything including the box for $300 + shipping. Once I get it working...
I'm looking to find a source for 4x5 plates. I know I can cut them myself from window glass but if I can find a reasonably priced supplier I'd rather let them deal with the glass cutting.
Thanks...
I'm actually in the same boat as jharr. I tried scanning both halves but I couldn't find a merge function in photoshop elements (I don't have photoshop, just elements and lightroom.) I tried...
I'm 51 and new to LF. I think it's great so many 30 somethings are doing LF....keep the genre going!
Thanks Jim. I plan to use the groundglass. Interesting...I only have the one lens now. I should try to rangefinder and see how awkward it is or not to use.
Thank you all for the advice! I examined the camera and noticed the left and right stop were set differently and the closer stop was down so I'm going to first test with it up and see how well it's...
Thanks! I didn't even know that they were adjustable but that makes sence. I'll have to look for a tutorial on how to adjust the infinity stops.. It seems they're locking the lens too far forward.
I shot so far four images with my crown graphic and have two questions.
First, I am opening it to the stops. However it doesn't seem to focus well at infinity...I haven't developed the images but...
Thanks! That's what I needed to know....I tried it out following your directions and it worked. I'm supposed to have film coming tomorrow so hopefully I'll have time to make a few images.
...
I just purchased my first LF camera, a Crown Graphic and it comes with a schneider-kreuznach xenarthra lens. I read about other lenses in the manual and they have a level to open the shutter for...
Thanks Alan! Yes, right now I'm gathering what I need so we'll see. I still need a few pieces and figure out the logistics of how I'm going to do it. (Basically it's a downstairs bathroom I'm...
That's super you're able to return to LF. Enjoy yourself and I look forward to seeing your images.
Hi, After taking a workshop where we used a 4x5 press camera to shoot glass plates I decided to pick up a Graflex Crown Graphic. I have film on order but my goal is to reproduce the emulsion we...
