Re: Toyo Compendium on Canham 5x7?

I don't know the answer. But I tried to experiment with compendium hoods which I found aesthetically pleasing. In the end, a baseball hat wins.

    Re: Jobo 2520 Processing

The 3000 series drums work very well on a roller base. Great if you can find them. Be gentle with the lids. A manual roller base would be just that - manual labor and horrible after a short time.

Re: arca swiss F metric 5x7?

I used to have a 4x5 F-Metric. The camera itself is art. Almost too precious to use! Good luck in your search.
  5. Re: Just in: QT's latest Photo Book: Our National Monuments

It is a beautiful book. Well done!
  6. Re: Which field camera for usage with 90mm lens

Most any 4x5 will work. However, generally speaking the longer the bellows the more they will be compressed with the 90. If the bellows are compressed, movements are very stiff and it can be harder...

    Re: Jobodrum for prints

Honestly too much trouble for prints. Better to use single tray processing with some beakers/pitchers of chemistry. Cheaper and easier. If you must use a drum, you could try a DIY PVC drum but heavy...
  8. Re: Jobo Expert Sheet Drum OR Mod54 Large Format Film Processor?

Get the motorized base if you use a 3005. The CPP/CPA processors are huge and really unnecessary for B&W sheet film. Just do some testing to calibrate your development times using the motorized base...

    Re: My New Darkrrom

Well done! A criticism which might be unavoidable is placing the enlarger next to a wall. Two problems: reflected light (fog) off the wall; and difficulty using dodging and burning tools on the left...

    Re: Contact printing light source?

The problem with most light sources, even enlargers, is the the light is far too bright for VC paper, especially if you want to dodge/burn anything. Not the easiest thing to do with 5x7 but much...

    Re: Dark Cloth 4x5

You might try some 10X reading glasses in place of (or in addition to) a loupe. I tried a number of focusing cloths. In the end, simple and light is best.

Re: Peak Design Travel Tripod for LF?

I really hate ballheads for large format first of all. The ballhead is integrated on the PD travel tripod. You can get an optional kit to use your own head which I suspect would be heavier and make...

    Re: Transform a Jobo 3063 into a Jobo 3005?

Didn't people try something like this but much simpler, using rubber bands around the sheet to curl it and then filling the drum with "tubes" of film. A large drum might need some sort of spacer -...

Re: 8x10 Lenses Most Used, Most Desired

    I used a 210 Sironar-W, 300 Nikon M, 450 mm Fujinon C, and 600 mm Fujinon C. I paid the piper.

Going wider than 210 you have limited options. There is an old Schnieder SA 165 that covered 8x10 -...

Re: Traveling international with 8x10 film

Of course, it is a fair amount of work to cram the 50 sheets into 10 sheet boxes. For smaller volumes, 2 fold packs of 10 sheets will fit in a 10 sheet box so the average shooter could cut the bulk...
  29. Re: Rodenstock Apo Sironar S 210mm 5,6 Copal 1 help

Re: Jobo 3005 tank and Beseler Motor Base

  32. Re: Beseler roller base (one direction) and Jobo 3005 Expert Drum?

  38. Re: Getting back to 8x10, looking at Arca Swiss

    Ari,

    A basic Arca Swiss...
