I think I'm just going to use this shutter until I can't anymore. I thought I'd have a Packard by now, too, since I was looking around for one when I ended up bidding on this thing, but...yeah. So I...

Figured I should put this here, too. The 8" configuration, wide open (f/8), 4x5 EDU Ultra 100.
Even with the flaws of the image (which are many, damn it), I LOVE how this looks. I'm going...

Other than the obvious slight underexposure, I'm pretty sure that the shadow on the right is my finger clicking the shutter. The small kid must have gotten my cable release and destroyed it...
So cool, but I'm an Android user. ;)
Either we're *all* broke or everyone's looking for larger now because that should have sold quite a while ago. It was a good price in the first place.
Oooh, that second idea is a really good one. I'll do that as soon as I take it off the camera tomorrow. :D
Okay. The good news: I was right. It wasn't fungus. Just dust, and that's gone now. The lens has wear to the glass that you would expect from one that actually was used, but it is not in ugly...
Okay, so this is stupid. Or, well, was stupid. Maybe still is. Don't know.

The 'bay strikes again.
The shutter works well, though I don't know how accurate it is. It appears not to be...

APX 100 of unknown age left in a holder for three years. Taken with a 105mm Apotar from an old Agfa folder. Mislit, but I'm way better with natural light than the artificial stuff and I plan...
I got the scanner today and I'm pretty happy...except for the fact that they sent a power cord that doesn't go with the scanner. I can't actually test it now until I get that next week.
Anyway, I...
That is some badly written copy.
Since lots of others here have the same scanner, I'll probably find help. :D
I made a 5x7 "film holder" for the 2480 out of mat board and marked where I needed to sit it for minimum stitching...
I'm looking at the variable height mounting station. Since I'll be shooting mostly 4x5 and 5x7 with occasional 6x6 thrown in there, I'm sure it would work well for my needs.
The Target in Fort Dodge or Ames is where I used to go. I'll have to call and see if they still do developing.
Oh holy cats, it's marked for shipping.
Oh, and Doug, I'm looking at the film holders at BetterScanning. Though I'm going to set up a wet darkroom, having the ability to get nice scans would be...
I think I'm going to have to buy Silverfast this time. I'll be starting with Epson Scan, but will likely want to upgrade pretty quickly. I hated Epson Scan the last time. :/
I have to figure out where my Vuescan serial is. I should be able to redownload it if I can find it. :/
Um...never mind. I just got a V750 Pro for a song.
I made sure.
Um...lucky day?
With my luck, though, they'll say it's a mistake before it ships. Going to cross fingers and toes and then...
The 2480 I bought from someone either here or on APUG has bit the dust. I'm looking again for another one. It dawned on me that now I need the ability to scan 5x7 film, even if I won't be scanning it...
The 300mm Tessar-type I have is a Bausch & Lomb. I've been looking for that particular company, too, since they're not really sought after. There's an interesting RR in Unicum shutter on there right...
I was looking at that lens on Ebay a while ago. There's one going for $225 BIN, with a $150 starting bid. I know it covers 8x10. It's tempting, but I don't have the dosh at the moment. Heh. How is it?
I know, but I can't buy now. Heh. I have to wait. Christmas money + yarn dyeing profits + a little extra = lens. It does fit the small list of things I need his lens to be, though: shutter, 8x10...
I decided to develop this negative tonight after seeing that the darkslide had a crack in it. I wanted to make sure that the darkslide didn't lose its ability to be light tight.

I let go of the shutter for the 4x5 back for my camera and some 5x7 holders, so now I can focus on getting whatever damn lens I feel like getting. I'm going to continue my research and use the 12"...
I would be interested in seeing pictures of exactly how you did this. I may be refurbing a 5x7 really soon and it would be nice to have a shutter that I could use with barrel lenses that had more...
The short answer is yes. The longer one is that if you don't use it, it's likely better off with someone who will. However, if you do sell it, look up its worth. Heh.

Forgive the mess on the table in the background. Combination of me fixing camera stuff and cleaning it off.
300mm Tessar applied to the front of the camera with a...
Oh, and I'm going to safely assume that there are a few of you guys watching the bunged 14" Heliar that I'm also very, very closely watching.
I saw that lens. I'll actually be trading the shutter for some film holders and the 4x5 reducing back for my camera. This makes me very, very happy.
There's also a 12/20/28 triple convertible. I...
I have a linen skirt that was obviously made for someone with less hips than I have. I'm taking it apart, sewing some blackout fabric on the *outside*, and sewing the elastic back in one end. Voila,...
Hrm. There's a 360/9 APO-Ronar on Ebay right now cheap. It's in barrel, so I wouldn't have yet another Copal 1. $140. Bonus: I have a lens board it'll fit so I don't have to make one. Hm.
ETA: ER,...
Yeah, the Heliar won't fit, but it's a dream anyway. If I ever get together with other LF photographers, I may see if I can borrow one because I'm really, really, really curious. I like fast lenses,...
Actually, thinking about it more, I'd almost say that the most wanted would be a 360 Heliar, but it's out of price range. I have the extension bed for the 5x7 so I could probably focus something up...
I'm basically dead set on the 250-300mm focal length. I'm looking at building a decent 2 lens 5x7 kit and the 175mm/300-ish combination seems like it would be the best option.
I saw those. I have a 175mm lens already, though, so I'm thinking that for what I want to do (5x7 portraits) something longer would be a better choice.
In the mean time, I have a huge 300/4.5 that...

$400 is probably the absolute high limit of what I could spend, but I'm not looking for something for $100, no.
If I can't find something that is what I want in my price range, I'll likely give...
I have a Copal 1 shutter laying around doing nothing. The Geronar cells that were in it have fungus that *does* effect image quality, so I'm looking for something else.
Are there any older,...
The glass is exactly the same width as the glass that was in the frame to start with, so there shouldn't be a problem.
Another issue I have is whether or not to replace the felt. I think I'll see...
Welcome to the board! We're (mostly) pretty friendly here so feel free to jump right in with both feet.
I've since found a nice contact frame. I'm going to get brand new anti-glare glass for it...
