  1. Re: Where to find Large format Camera Tripods on a student budget?

I've used a tiltall to hold my B&J 8x10 a bunch of times, but it's not ideal enough to recommend. I generally do not extend the legs when I do this. Do as I say not as I do sort of thing. It's my...

    Re: Freezer for Film

I'm also a fan of the $200-300 NEW freezer. Much more efficient than an old one. I made a plywood daggerboard style divider for mine so I can get to things without unpacking the food.

    Re: Stopping down and "Diffraction"

How's this for my understanding (correct me if I'm wrong).

    1. There is always diffraction where there is an aperture.
    2. When you stop down you decrease the amount of refracted/transmitted light...

Re: Your favorite, mostly harmless, stop & fix?

water for stop. tf5 for paper (it doesn't stink), tf4 for film; stinky but works well. I suppose I could use tf5 for film as well, but I keep separate batches to keep the film fixer cleaner.

  17. Re: Dealing with reflection between lens and filter?

You can tape the filter to the back of the lens.

Otherwise, you're going to need some sort of hood/compendium to keep the stray light off the filter/lens.

The shape of the circles make it appear to be overcorrected for spherical aberation. Probably not a cheap meniscus (which I'd think would be more likely uncorrected), but some other cheap lens.
