May I ask how much, and did it come with the lens? Was the PHSC sale good this spring? I had other family stuff on the go, so could not attend.

Based on those Sinars selling at those prices, I was able to convince a seller to let his Sinar C go to me for $375, plus shipping to Canada; and it was a consignment sale too.
Bought in June 2013...
I am always amazed by the size of the 9x12 Patent Etui.

Sinar C 4x5
Not very fancy, but I did not see any other Sinar C cameras on this thread, so just added this casual snap.
Bought it for a personal table top project and some general...
Your Sinar F (version?) looks in very nice condition.
Is it just me or have Sinar prices seen a recent cooling period? I noticed a couple years ago that they had started rising again with many...
Congrats on a fine first 4x5 camera.
Wow! What an appalling lack of courtesy from fellow photographers; at least at the beginning of this thread.
Okay, consider me a convert. Those soft focus images are beautiful.
I bought this Lowe-Pro back in the mid-late 90s I think, and it has served me very well on my travels to the UK, across Canada and even to the Caribbean.
I was trying to find what model it is the...
Years ago I worked for IBM in sales and training. One thing I realized very quickly was the storage requirements of multimedia and photography. I still use a scanner that is years old, and the scans...
I find it very interesting to find some active members of the LFF being so anti-film. By anti-film, I mean seeing little value to it, or the images produced by it due to the overwhelming advances and...
The 45a that you bought (I put a bid in I think) seems to have its focusing rail lying on its edge (vertically) instead of on its side (horizontally). Can you verify that? Awefully nice camera,...
That is a great question, to which I would also like the answer. Does 100% refer to doubling of the image size, the size of the image on the neg, the size of the image on the original print?
I have...
Looks like a beautiful thing. When I sold my 8x10 B&J, a horribly rickety thing, and my 11x14 Korona, I swore off the larger of the large formats. This camera is one of those temptations that really ...
Lovely portrait; she reminds me of a younger Charlotte Rampling.
Hyperfocal distance changes with lens focal length, which generally changes with format/film size, standard lenses for 4x5 are approx. 50% the length of 8x10. My apologies if I was unclear.
I'm...
I just ordered a retaining ring, after meeting up with a LFF member who had a 0 copal I could test (I was too cheap to spend $20 shipping and $30 for one from SK, although they will be doing some...
Thanks everyone, I will wait 24 hours or so and repost the list with the additions.
I was working on my own spreadsheet for hyperfocal distances and DoF, and wanted to make sure that I had as many (LF) film formats listed as possible (and Yes, I know of dofmaster).
I'm hoping...
Yes, Weitwinkel=Wide Angle. There is a lot of helpful information in these threads:

In the beginning Karsh printed for himself, in fact I believe he printed for his uncle and for John Garo (Boston) before that. Later, when he became famous and much busier, he did hire a printer, who...
Strictly for reference purposes, I'm listing the searches I have done for Leitmeyr here on LFF, on APUG, on Photo.net, and on Google...
Seems like a lot of work for such an obscure company, but...
Watch a clip http://watch.bravo.ca/clip249317#clip249317
On Bravo (a Canadian cable network) last Sunday, I watched a great documentary on Karsh. Unfortunately it was during the Super Bowl, so I...
Hi Ole,
I actually counted them in an oder thread, but mine has 4 reflections in the front, and 4 reflections from the back.

I just wanted to add something to this very old thread, but there seem to be 2 versions of the Leitmeyr Munchen Weitwinkel 105mm. One is a f/6.8 and the other an f/6.3. I also noticed that the...

No one seems to have mentioned her as yet, but best work of Louise Dahl-Wolfe is exceptional.
I also like Hoyningen-Huene and Margaret Bourke-White a lot.
The books that got me started, and which helped me to grow the most are the ones I return to over and over:
(Looking at Photographs J. Szarkowski) - already mentioned in Google list
(Camera,...
Can anyone remember the name of the young man who brought all of those prints for us to look at? His father, Igo, was also there.
As the first one to leave (unfortunately) I can honestly say it was a really great gathering of like minded folks. Some people brought prints, and some of it was exhibition quality IMHO, while others...
TO Contact does sound like a pretty fab opportunity this year, and I have so much to learn about alt process too! I'll be there for sure.
Hope things get better rapidly in that neck of the woods...
...dyslexia strikes again... Lodima is what I meant, not Lomida. Sorry.
Great tip Ed,
Have you or anyone you know published a photographic book through Lightning Source?.. if so, what do you think of the quality of the photographs?
If Blurb is a 1 and Lodima is a 10,...
I noticed that options like Blurb were not mentioned.
Blurb appears to have some very nice books (http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/pbn) that have won some of their awards, but I have never held one...
Thanks for the info and update. I stand corrected.

From what I have read so far, I would expect the Kowa to be of superior sharpness and probably colour fidelity too, but it would be very interesting to have a comparison of the same image/scene taken...
I may be wrong, but I think that the 210/6.3 Commercial Astragon, the 210/6.3 Congo, 210/6.3 Caltar, and the 210/6.3 Komura Commercial may have all been the same lens, especially with Copal No.1 ...
Okay, I took the 210mm Commercial Astragon to a fellow forum member's house today and we were both pleasantly surprised to see that it did cover 8x10 on his Kodak 2D. Some noticeable light falloff,...
An enjoyable read Barend. If nothing else, it is nice to know that I am not totally alone as a 9x12 owner/user. To me the most interesting part is looking at the formats in use, more so than the...
I just learnt the hard way that there are as you say, 'some exceptions' as I just bought 5 inserts from a guy in Austria, that are just a tiny bit too big for my Voigtlander 9x12 holders. I'll have...
