  5. Re: Nikkor 150mm SW f8 Engraved with red letter "R"

As with 35mm lenses, you focus a large format cameras with visible light so you normally have to compensate if you're shooting IR film. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have to with your lens. This...
  6. Re: Nikkor 150mm SW f8 Engraved with red letter "R"

According to the page at the link below, a red R on some early 35mm lenses indicated, as Darin mentioned above, improved IR focus.

  7. Re: 4x5 Film Loading. Handling film surfaces, and loading technique? Need your expert

I pinch the end if the film between my thumb and either my index or middle finger to pick up a single sheet, and have never damaged a piece of film this way. (My experience includes commonly...
  8. Re: lefthand side of image unfocused/lense problem?

A couple of questions that might help diagnose what's going on: Does the image get unsharp abruptly, or does it "fade" from sharp to fuzzy. Is the edge of the fuzzy area parallel with the edge of...
  9. Re: lefthand side of image unfocused/lense problem?

The first question that comes to my mind: Is the image sharp when you view it on the ground glass with a loupe? If it's sharp on the ground glass but fuzzy on the film, you've got a misalignment...

    Re: new 8x10 enlarger

Aristo has an 8x10 cold light head, model 810-C-V54-110V, for $573. It's made for an Elwood enlarger, but would be simple enough to adapt. However, my plan is to build something like you've got,...

  12. Re: Quickload 4x5 B/W Acros Film Comparisons'

I really liked 4x5 Acros, in both Rodinal and Pyrocat. Unfortunately, Fuji punches a small hole in the corner of the film (for hanging the film up to dry). The hole is in the image area, and is the...

    Re: Shen Hao vs. Tachihara

The bellows on the Shen-Hao and the Tachihara both extend about the same amount, unless you move the front standard of the Shen-Hao forward. Then you can get out to 360mm. It's rock solid extended...

Re: Shen Hao 6x12 back with masks

I can't speak to a comparison of the Shen-Hao back and the Horseman, but the film flatness of the Shen-Hao back is excellent. It's a very basic device, but I find that it works wonderfully.
  16. Re: Hope there's not too much competition for THIS!

Different strokes... I probably use a roll film holder half of the times that I go out. Not exclusively, but my roll film holder does get a lot of use.

Check the front of your camera for pinholes. It sounds like you've got a pinhole somewhere up there that's casting the image of the rail onto your film. Leave the lensboard and lens on the camera...
