    Re: A luminous landscape article

Reichman has been trying to prove that digital is better than LF for a long time now. As far as I'm concerned, it all depends on the reasons you're shooting LF not just blown up comparisons.

Beautiful intimate portrait. I think your familiarity with the subject shows and that adds a lot to the image.

Re: Is it wise to buy a new Microtek M1 pro?

I got the M1 when it originally came out and I really like it. It's head and shoulders above my old Epson 3200. It doesn't give me the detail of an Imacon scan but it's great to be able to scan at...
  5. Re: Where for E-6 Processing in the SF Bay Area?

Good question. There is a lab in SF, I think it's light wave or something like it and there is a lab in Berkeley. They're both pretty expensive, about $5 a sheet. I started sending my film to...

Re: Jack Dykinga: another one bites the d

Maybe we like shooting with view cameras. I don't think a 5DII equals what I get with a view camera. Medium format, probably, but I don't have a spare $40,000 which is what I figure I'd be out...
  7. Re: Fuji and Kodak Discontinuing 50 sheet boxes f 4x5

B&H says discontinued. They would just not list it or say out of stock.
  8. Fuji and Kodak Discontinuing 50 sheet boxes f 4x5

I had a rude awakening when I went to B&H's web site to buy some film. It seems that Fuji has discontinued 50 sheet boxes of their 4x5 film. I hear rumors that they're discontinuing Astia 100F too,...

    V100 and E6 Chemistry

I used to shoot a lot of Velvia 100. It had a tendency to overdo red light, but in neutral light it performed pretty well. I recently shot some more of it and I was horrified at how magenta the...

    Re: cell phone light meter

I can see using one in a pinch but to take a very mediocre digital camera that probably costs less than $10 and use it to replace a good hand held meter is absurd.

  16. Re: New iPhone App. Photographers Guide to Arches

I would say that it takes a similar amount of content for a photographer's guide book. You need to cover important locations. Let photogs know in advance what to plan for light wise and let them...

    Re: information about zeiss lens

This sounds like a lens from a Hasselblad Super Wide C. http://www.gilghitelman.com/news_0005.html

As far as I know, the lens wasn't interchangeable, however.

  21. Re: best/cheapest place to get C-41 4x5 processed

I don't know if these places do C41, but they do E6. There's Photo Craft in Boulder, CO at $2.45 a sheet and Calypso Imaging in Santa Cruz, CA at $2.25 a sheet. I've used them both and they seem...
