I spoke to someone at Golden Engineering some time ago. The retail price of the field processor is $799.

Did you buy this on eBay a few years ago? It looks like the one I saw listed with user-added Sinar label. As far as I know, Sinar never made an 8x10 reflex viewer.

There was a Sinar-compatible 8x10 binocular viewer made by Horseman that I've come across a few times over the years. It was pretty much an 8x10 version of the common Sinar 4x5 binocular viewing hood.

To be fair, what cost $217.50 in 1976 would cost $914.88 in 2016 (Adjusted for inflation). But $914.88 is still a lot less than $2,000. Then again, a Nagaoka is not as pretty or refined as an Ebony.

Their prohibitive pricing had to limit their market. They could cut their prices in half and perhaps stay in business.
