  1. Re: Questions re: Fuji Green X-ray Film "Super HR-U"

Wow! Great advice! Never thought of the plastic bag thing... I'm actually using aluminum turkey roasting pans which are somewhat ridged on the bottom. If I can avoid scratching, I don't have too...
  2. Questions re: Fuji Green X-ray Film "Super HR-U"

Hey! I'm new to 8x10 and LF in general. I've seen some magical-looking results on X-ray film and considering its cheapness, decided to hop on that train.

Does anyone use this particular brand? ...
  3. Re: NEWBIE alert!: Shutter for TR Triple Convertible?

That a good idea! How would you mount them? In front of the front element, or behind the rear one? Also, how would you calculate the correct radius for a given f number?
  4. Re: NEWBIE alert!: Shutter for TR Triple Convertible?

Thanks Jon--if that's the case, is there anything useful I could do with the elements short of returning them to the seller? Mounting them in the broken shutter will only let me use it wide open,...
  5. Re: NEWBIE alert!: Shutter for TR Triple Convertible?

Yeah--I just wish I could get the aperture working--I don't really need the shutter part for the stuff I'm doing...
  6. Re: NEWBIE alert!: Shutter for TR Triple Convertible?

I think that's what I'll do. Tomorrow I'll discuss the matter with my local tech and see if he think's it's worth a CLA, too.

    Thanks, y'all.
  7. NEWBIE alert!: Shutter for TR Triple Convertible?

Hey! I just got my first two lenses for my new 8x10 rig--a Wollensak "Tasope" process lens in barrel and a TR triple convertible in shutter.

The problem is: the shutter it came in (an Optimo #4)...
  8. Re: Quick question from someone very green to LF!

Ah! Thank you. Are shutters like these generally still in working condition?
  9. Quick question from someone very green to LF!

    71042

Observe this image. What is the function of the little hangy-downy things on either side of the lens?

What is this called? It seems to only show up on older shutters...

    Thanks y'all!...
  10. Re: Help me pick the perfect LF camera for my needs!

Once I get my toe in the water, I fully intend to shoot pinhole! I've got a few cigar boxes at home that would be absolutely perfect for this. I just feel like I would be cheating myself if I denied...
  11. Re: Help me pick the perfect LF camera for my needs!

I'd never heard of a whole-plate camera before--it doesn't sound like a half bad idea, although the comparative availability of 8x10 in a variety of formats outweighs the weight savings, it seems...
  12. Re: Help me pick the perfect LF camera for my needs!

    That's a good idea!

I plan to shoot natural light portraits, city/landscapes, assemblages of objects, etc. Nothing too out of the ordinary yet (only marginally interested in macro/night shots,...
  13. Help me pick the perfect LF camera for my needs!

Hey, all! Let me start this off by telling y'all a little about myself: I'm a starving college student (music cognition/philosophy) who has been shooting 35mm (various rangefinders and SLRs) and MF...
