Re: Light weight 4x5 field tripod.

The Gitzo 1228 tripod does not have a base plate to mount a head; the centre column is not removable. So, any head one mounts sticks up from the legs about 2 inches, being precariously supported by a...

Re: Light weight 4x5 field tripod.

It is with great shame that I come out of the closet and admit to using a Gitzo G1228 Mk II for my Arca-Swiss 8x10 metric. :o Upon the shortened centre column sits an Arca-Swiss B1 ballhead. This...

Re: Ansel site revisited with Arca 6x9

I think those images are wonderful. My favourite 2: seascape scene and the crashed cars at the side of the roadway. Very huge dynamic range, I might add. Also love the 'reversed swing move'
  5. Re: TOP lightmeters starlite vs L558 vs Flashmeter VI

  7. Re: Arca Swiss F-Metric 141/141 first impressions

Thank you, Jack, for the information and picture. Although I was not really interested in upgrading from my 171 version, your post will help prevent me from having a "need to upgrade demonic...

Re: Large Format Photography in 50 MPH wind

Ooh, I never tried the car-trick, but I've tried the umbrella-trick. I used one on a rock-outcropping, near midnight, as I attempted to photograph dinoflagellates glowing in the water. There were...

Re: High-End Digital Vs. 4x5 Film

$50k? >gulp< And here I thought 8x10 transparency film was expensive. I wish I could see a large print done with the P45 and compare it to a large print from my 8x10. But I live in da bush, so it...

    Hellooo from Trinidad, West Indies

That is, Trinidad off the east coast of Hugo Chavez's Venezuela. I just wanted to say a friendly 'helloooo' to all on the new and über cool forum. Who ever said that LFers have no sense of style?
