I believe there have been some discussions of this lens, but I don't have a link to the threads at the moment.
Where in NE PA? I'm more SE PA (30 minutes or so west of Philly) but would be willing to help if you are close.
I found these two line kinda funny next to each other:
"SHUTTERS WILL ARRIVE HERE BY JAN. 28TH
781 PIECES IN STOCK.
"
Personally I always prefer to buy used. The reason being that assuming you shop around and do your homework, if you ever decide to sell a piece of equipment you should be able to sell it for what you...
Easiest way I can think of is to mount the lens in a camera and choose a subject that distance away, focus and measure. seems like the most fool-proof method to me. Of course this assumes you have...
If you read that law (as posted with the story) you will see that permits are only required for comercial shoots, not commercial photographers. As long as the photographer was not shooting for...
Omega D series
Besseler 45 series
Those two are probably 95% of what you will see on the market for 4X5.
a shorter lens will require less extension, however your working distance will be less as well.
For some reason I had ruled out Wista, for some reason I only associated them with the metal field cameras they make. The hardware does look very Wista, however the rear movements (shift and swing)...

Any info on who made this camera would be greatly appreciated.
I picked this up locally and am having a heck of a time getting a positive ID on it. the closest thing I can find at this point is a Nagaoka, however the rear movements are wrong from what I can find...
Why are these things always scheduled when I am at school? I'm from Springfield but... oh well good luck with the event!
Just about any 4X5 can take a roll film back, those that have graflok backs have more options as to which backs you can use.
to me it appears that the image you posted is roughly 5X7 on my screen (at it's resolution) indicating about a 5X enlargement (or 20X25 in 4X5). The crop is about a third of the width of the frame so...
This is old news...
Heh, come to think of it, it was an old D-II that got me started with all this LF stuff. I picked it up from someone who wanted to clean out the basement intending to use it for 35mm and then well I...
It would help to know what model Omega it is, but I believe Omega's are just about the easiest to mount aristo cold heads on.
Badger has it in 20 sheet boxes, $32 a box.
Quick lock the door and knock on wood! (before it is too late lol)
oh and by the way I finally got the film out to you, things have been crazy with the holidays and all.
Basically the difference is size, and the best one is the one that fits your lens. Usually a different one is used for each lens so I am not sure exactly what you mean by a "general purpose" one.
What model is it? As Erik said, my Shen Hao takes Technka boards...
Everything said here makes sense, the only thing I wanted to mention is that I would NOT recommend getting lenses new. The new vs. used prices of even modern lenses show a big advantage with going...
No he would just tell you that the foliage is on a 73 year cycle, it's only worth shooting if you wait 73 years for it be just right... of course then you also have to wait three months for the light...
I don't know exactly what the output of the 283/285 is, but you might run into issues with power. With a 500 w/s Novatron pack about all I could got to is f16, with a 2000 w/s pack I was able to hit...
Any chance you could supply some more details or photos of the conversion?
I don't know about Weston, but there are quite a few pictures of Ansel's darkroom in his three volume series on photography. I also have a Video on Ansel Adam (made towards the end of his career)...
Well there is no chance in the near future that I would be able to come anywhere near theprice of one of these lenses, but I have to say that is an amazing image, congrats on a great piece of glass.
I believe I had seen something on the ebay page telling you to contact customer support if you did not get a message. I don't believe it is necessary to register with live.com before making the...
Check ebay, they come up from time to time, is this What you need? I would guess that with a little patience you could get one for half that in better shape.
Also I believe the common name for...
Welcome from a sometimes MA resident
This scares me, I don't know just how sensitive the glass in lenses is, but I know glass does not like rapid temperature changes.
of course that's the way it always works ;)
In case anyone is looking for one of these I just found the part number on the gitzo site: D2271.13. For some reason searching on B&H etc didn't find anything, but searching for that number did.
maybe check this site
The aperture markings on a shutter are only valid for a specific lens focal length mounted in them. F2.8 on a 150mm requires a ~53.6mm opening. As long as the size of the opening is at least 53.6 you...
The Ektar 127 is a very nice lens, but it barely covers 4X5. If you don't need much in the way of movements it will be fine but if you do any significant movements than you will run out of coverage...
that optar is a normal lens while the SA 90 is a wide angle, also I wouldn't pay more than $40 for that optar. I suggest looking on the B&S here (I don't know that you have access to that just yet),...
Yeah I saw that, also the section where it talks about the guy who shot the biker club had a few zingers as well.
I believe the Anastigmat is the same as the Ektar just an earlier version ans probably uncoated.
