Re: Film holders: alternative to notches

I like and use the system Ralph Lambrecht put forth in his book, “Way Beyond Monochrome.”
  2. Re: Chamonix 4x5 film holder. How to tell if Film exposed?

I masked off one side of the holder and sprayed the tab silver.
  3. Re: print washer on folding table – engineering question

How many gallons will the print washer hold?

I roughly calculated that the 220 capacity of the table would allow for 22 gallons of water, likely much more than the capacity of the washer. My...

    Re: Jobo CCP2 problem

Does it slip in both directions? On mine, it slips in one direction, but not the other so I let it rotate in just one direction. I have tried replacing the drive gear with no observable results.

    Re: Anti-rotation Screw Size

I think John hit on the issue: it sounds like your lens board is too thin. As someone else suggested, make a spacer so the retaining ring will actually tighten up. I would forget about the...
  9. Re: How to fit these lenses to an Intrepid 810 (Sinar board)?

Those three lenses are pretty close in focal length. You might consider whether you need all three. If their condition is equal, I’d pick the Dagor.

Re: 8x10 cameras with bag bellows?

Chamonix has a bag bellows for their 8x10, although the website shows it as “Sold Out” right now.
  15. Re: A question about unscrew off the front cell of Schneider Super Symmar 80mm XL len

I just checked mine. It was tight, but putting it face down on a jar opener and it came right off the shutter.
  16. Re: Ebony SV45TE and Linhof Reflex viewer Modification

Unfortunately they probably don’t offer in 5x7. Currently my favorite format, at least until I run out of film in a couple of years.

  19. Re: Ebony SV45TE and Linhof Reflex viewer Modification

Yes, the Cambo viewer rotates a full 360 degrees. See picture with the camera back in vertical position. Cambo viewers used to be common on Ebay. I’ve seen Chinese knockoffs in the same design so...
  20. Re: Ebony SV45TE and Linhof Reflex viewer Modification

darr’s posting reminded me that I also have this bellows fixture with a magnifier lens. I think this probably came with my camera when I bought it. I have rarely used it, preferring a dark cloth. ...
  21. Re: Ebony SV45TE and Linhof Reflex viewer Modification

I don’t know about the Linhof viewer, but the Cambo viewer can be made to work. It requires a simple bracket on each side. The brackets started as simple 1/2” (?) aluminum angles that were bent...

Re: Carrying lenses on Sinar Lens Boards

Just my two-cents, but I think that, unless you are using lenses larger than Copal 3, you are better off mounting your lenses on Technika size boards and using a Sinar-to-Technika adapter. Much less...

  30. Re: New filters system for b&w worth looking into ?

Use step rings to get all your lenses to a common size (I use 67mm). Then get all your filters in that size. Glass filter from B&W or Heliopan are best quality. Better, I think than resin or gels....

I have an H1 with 4x5, 5x7 and 4x10 backs. It’s a good camera as all Chams are. I bought it to make an all purpose to traveling with three formats. I actually only use 5x7 and 4x10. The...

    Re: Source for Replacement Knobs?

Save yourself some stress and find a competent local hobby machinist who can replicate the knob for you. It will be easier than buying a bunch of hardware that doesn’t work.
  36. Re: Wood Field Camera Repair Question: How to remove the focus knob on the Pinion?

If it has Loctite as Richard suggests, a drop or two of Acetone (aka nail polish remover) will soften up the Loctite and make it easier to screw off.
  37. Re: Removing old tape residue from film holders

Bookbinders tape is what I have used. By all means, remove all the old tape. I’d use GooGone followed by alcohol as GooGone is a little oily.
