Hi Pete, I do a lot of photography and much of my testing with 120 and 35mm roll film. I process all my roll film on Hewes stainless steel reels in stainless steel tanks.
My results speak for...
Jay, my luck with reduced agitation development has been holding out for a long time. I hope it continues, cause I like the results.
Thanks, Jay. I'll post the results.
The Sodium Metabisulfite acts as a buffer for the Sodium Sulfite.
You say "The tanning effect of the pyro gives you high acutance but the metol nullifies that somewhat to achieve finer grain..." What is your basis for this statement?
Jay and Jim, regarding Pat Gainer's mixture of Triethanolamine, Ascorbic Acid, Metol and Pyrocatechol, Pat has tested it and likes it. It seems to me that you pose questions and make criticisms...
The sharpest 8x10 sheet films I have used are Kodak TMAX100 and Efke 25, TMAX 100 is a bit sharper.
If you are contact printing 8x10, it doesn't make a noticeable difference. If you are enlarging...
I've stand and semi-stand developed many rolls of TMAX 100 in Pyrocat-HD (16 to 18 minutes total developing time) with excellent results. I have not experienced any streaking or non-uniformity of...
I've been using PC-TEA for a little over a year and it works very well. The stock solution is a high viscosity liquid which looks like dark honey.
The Triethanolamine (TEA) is the solvent for...

Oh well that explains it. Perpetuators of old wives' tales, thriving on superstition as always.

Yes, I have this image by Jorge (Ex Hacienda El rayo) hanging on my wall. I have several other images by Jorge's as well, all of them exquisite.
Get well soon, old friend! My thoughts and...
The RRS plate that Bruce Wehman installed on my 8x10 Wehman Field Camer is the RRS #35. The RRS#35 mounting plate is 3.5 inches long and it is secured by two 1/4 20 screws. It is rock-solid, does...
I use an Arca/Swiss Ballhead with RRS Clamp, and I have an RRS Plate mounted on the bottom of my (Wehman) 8x10. The tightening knob for the quick release plate (Clamp) easily clears the bottom of...
I have Panatomic-X curves from the late 1970's and early 1980's. I shot a lot of 35mm and 120 Panatomic-X and develeped it in 1:50 Rodinal (one of my all-time favorite combinations). I have curves...
"I can't get on with the T-grain films like Tmax and Acros (and I've tried). The midtones are so boring."
"this probably has to do with how the film is being developed. tmax midtones can be pushed...
"how about rollei r3 or fomapan 100, has anybody used one of these?"
I've used fomapan 100 and fomapan 200T. Both films can produce nice images - if you get a good batch of film...
Foma...
Yes John, I also shoot Efke 50 and Efke 25.
Efke 50 is very similar to Efke 100 - just slower.
Efke 25 has long been one of my favorite films, but it takes some testing and "getting used to." ...
Try Efke/Adox PL 100, not as fine grained as Ilford Pan F Plus, but it has great tonal rendering capability. I shoot it in 8x10, 5x7 and 4x5, (and 120 roll film).
Efke/Adox PL100 really sings in...
I have a Wehman 8x10 and I love it!
Bruce Wehman is a great guy to work with.
My 8x10 Wehman also has a 4x5 Graflock back and a 5x7 spring back.
I supplied the 4x5 Graflock (got a new one...
Yes Paul, Pat Gainer just posted this short article on APUG (Analog Photography Users Group):
Dissolving metol in glycol.

Pat posts regularly on...
The author (s) seem to be unaware of Pat Gainer's work (and the relevant Kodak patents) which discuss the ue of Glycols and Triethanolamine as developer solvents and preservatives.
Also,...

Yes, and its vicosity is similar to that of honey - but I would not advise tasting it!
I've been swapping information with John for a couple of years on Ansco 130. I also use it as a paper developer and fim developer. For film, I dilute Ansco 130 a bit more than John does...
Brian, take a look at this:

I have not tried refrigeration myself, but others have reported sucess.
I have some Glycin that I dissolved in Triethanolamine (TEA) about 6-7 months ago. I need to check its activity !
I'll...
Phillipe, I think you may have confused Glycin and Amidol. Amidol is notorious for staining skin, clothing and developing trays. I mix and use both Ansco 130 and Michael Smith's Amidol paper...
