Leigh, I expect it will be good enough. I have sironar 210 with an ic of 302mm and that covers 8x10, with barely a hint of vignetting.

That's surprising Thomas!
I'll use it mostly on an 8x10 shooting Velvia. I have a Schneider 150 XL and that definitely benefits from the 4A filter. I'll see what results I get when it arrives....
Just wondering what people are using for center filters on the Nikkor 120 SW. I read the Schneider 3b does the trick. True? Anything else?
Sorry Peter, got distracted with a PayPal problem....but that's another story.
Excuse my earlier attempt to describe what is really a very simple solution. The only issues I have with this...
I have a grandagon 65mm and even though it's in a recessed board, it still requires the front standard to be "folded" back to get focus at infinity. You also have to use some "dropbed" to keep the...
+1.
The backroads provide some of the most interesting views of this country and unless you insist on going off-road, a 2WD SUV is all you need to get around in.
Enjoy.
I carry a "one-man" ground sheet to use where ever I want to put my pack down. It's long enough to provide protection for the pack and the lid when opened. When I've finished, I can put the wet/dirty...
Bruce,
I'm assuming we can add a custom camera case. Does the P3 include a backerboard? Is the waist strap interchangeable?
Thanks
/Frank
What Drew said....
I use a single pair of x6 readers, freeing up both hands to do all the camera tweaking stuff, while I'm watching the GG. Couldn't be easier.

This is good info, even if you aren't planning to buy an 8x10. It puts my camera into perspective.
I did something similar before I took the plunge, but only compared against a small number of...
Thanks Folks,
Correct Vinny, I wasn't asking about the lens coverage, and the issue isn't if the 90 XL can focus to infinity in the middle of the 8x10 frame. I'm sure it can on the Chamonix. I just...
Is there anyone out there using this setup?
I'd like to know if the Chamonix 8x10 can be configured to allow a wide angle lens (e.g. 90mm) focused to infinity on the upper half of the 8x10 frame. If...
I have an old Slik 88N (early 80s) and although I don't know what it's specs are, I don't use it for supporting an 8x10 camera. There is way too much flexibility in the head to provide a rigid...
I think the cut-down darkslide method is the best option, especially when you're after a light weight solution and being economic with film. So far, I've only lost one 4x10 frame to mismanagement....
I remember Yodobashi Camera in Shinjuku was (and may still be) the Japanese temple of all things photographic.

They also...
I do the same with a Ritter, bag bellows and reversed rails to get the front standard closer to the back. No movement restrictions and the camera can still fold up in this configuration....

I did something similar with the 8x10 kit - thinking it would distribute the weight better. An old Kata backpack for the camera and small bits, an old laptop shoulder bag for 6 film holders, a small...
Agreed, although it can be a bit of a wrench after using a camera that has zero markings and detents. However, if you put in the time and effort to understand that 'focus v swing relationship' thing...
Does the Wilderness have an interchangeable bellows? Is there a W/A bellows option? Couldn't see one on the web site.
And if anyone is using a 90mm lens with this camera, can you get it centred on...
Don't forget the tripod. It can be something reasonably small and light enough to carry in one hand. A 75mm lens will likely benefit from a CF (especially for interiors) but I find some pictures lend...
If it's really windy I doubt I'd have the camera up and ready to shoot anything. If it's a slight breeze, there's no problem with the holder hanging off the tripod (if that's what you meant). Also,...
Yes, but you'll need to be patient.
Richard has made a couple of modifications to one of his 8x10 cameras I bought from him and the workmanship has been very good. But being on the opposite side of...
It's a dilemma. The monorails are a great starter in 4x5, but if you're serious about getting out and travelling light, stick with a field camera. Your back will thank you!
That's right, Steve and my XL doesn't have the removable piece at the back, either. I'm not game enough to "play" with it on the Ebony and only use it on the 8x10.
Jim, I use (very rarely) a Fuji 450mm lens on a flatboard without any problems. My only (minor) gripe is the camera won't take a Schneider 90XL lens. Otherwise, it's is a joy to use and quick to...
... and another.
My old laptop bag was used for carrying 8x10 holders but it's starting to fall apart. Was ready to pay one of our local fashionister-hipster bag outlets a visit when I stumbled...
Forgot to mention, too that you will probably need to use some base tilt to keep the camera bed out of the picture, if you are exposing a full frame. This is less of a problem if you use a 6x12 back.
Jim,
I've been using a Grandagon 65mm lens on an SV45Ti for some time, without any major problems. With a standard bellows there is still some very limited movement available. Better with a WA...
....then there are those who just love using 8x10 chromes and want to get in a few pics before the curtain comes down!
Interesting!
My first was an overpriced 2nd hand Cambo SC 4x5, found in Melbourne while I was here on a course in 1993. Shipped the thing back to NZ and used it off & on for a couple of years before...
Spot on.
I thought going from 4x5 to 8x10 would be a natural progression, but found the 4x5 felt more like a point & shoot after using the 8x10. Not that I'm complaining. The big camera really does...
I use a range of reading glasses for general work - 1.5x, camera setup and lens settings - about 2.5-3x, and a pair specifically for GG focusing (6x). I can get very close to the screen (about 15cm)...
+1 for Steve Hopf.
I have an 8x10 borosilicate GG and although it has survived the hard knocks, some of the gg surface was
"smoothed" by the front standard rubbing on it. Nothing too disastrous.
Or, go easy now so you can still go when you're in your sixties!!! :D
$150 shipping?????

Shooting 8x10, my latest acquisition is a Schneider 90 XL. Covers 4x10 beautifully.
Next is the Schneider 150XL, then a Rodenstock 210n. The Nikkor 300 has hardly been touched and the Fuji 450...
One thing to be careful with.
When you fold the RR make sure the front standard doesn't contact the inside of the GG, otherwise you'll get clear spots appearing on the GG.
/Frank...
FWIW, I "enjoy" a love/hate relationship with my Ritter 8x10 and certainly can't recommend it when the wind gets up. In a slight breeze, and when using a (very) short focal length lens, I use rubber...
I made a simple modification on the back of my SV45ti to hold a Cambo reflex viewer. Probably not as good as the loupe, but frees up both hands for focus/shift/tilt, etc.....
Gents,
Is there enough room in the f64 large (not extra large) backpack for an 8x10 kit? How many film holders can you get in the front pouch, and/or the internal compartment?
I'm looking to...
