    Re: odd lens mount

took off the front cell, can confirm the iris is there. on the outside of the iris assembly I can see the knurled bachelite ring typical of these lenses. now to find a way to free it from the mount...

    Re: odd lens mount

Tracy, it's an EL Nikkor 210/5.6 enlarging lens.
It sure has the iris assembly between front and rear elements, so I am guessing the lens is complete.

    Re: odd lens mount

the protruding lever runs into a diagonal slot. it makes the lens rotate forward and back, sort of a focusing tool. no means to select the aperture. the lever can be unscrewed, making the lens come...

    odd lens mount

anyone knows what this mount is for?
never seen before, any info on how to take the lens off would be of great help.
apparently unscrewing the lens doesn't work.
    thanks
  6. Re: why they remove the price after an item is sold ?

...or simply adding "sold" to the listing?
  7. Re: why they remove the price after an item is sold ?

also, how a buyer can be offended or not respected when no one knows who is the buyer? replies to FS ads are not allowed.
  8. Re: why they remove the price after an item is sold ?

no one has said negotiated price must be declared. the question is why remove the asking price.

Re: Is the WTB subforum dead?

must be a curse. this thread has already had 4x the views it would have had in that section :D
  10. Re: why they remove the price after an item is sold ?

bizarre point of view, we're on an internet forum accessible to anyone, not exactly what you would call private sphere.
also, it is everyone's business until the ad is active and then it becomes a...

    Is the WTB subforum dead?

The "Wanted to buy" section seems a bit of a dead end to me. Ads receive about 20 views on average. I personally happened to place the same ad here and on a French forum, I went from 20 to 200 views,...
  12. why they remove the price after an item is sold ?

I don't understand why many people change their listing once the item is sold and delete the price.
I mean, I used to look at the prices of things sold to get an idea. I simply don't get the reason...

    grease inside a lens

Just received this G-Claron 355 barrel version.
it looked a bit dirt so I disassembled it and found what looked like black grease residue around/over the inner retaining rings.
    residue of it was...

    Schneideritis or not ?

I bought this Schneider G-Componon 240mm lens three years ago, it was in perfect condition when it arrived. The lens is stored in an apartment, in a cardboard box, everything was fine until April...
  16. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

maybe this would be the ideal placement
  17. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

to better understand, left is the current configuration, right is as I would have expected for murals.
I get now that the left scenario allows for size adjustment given a focal lenght, while the...
  18. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

Yes this is clear, what I don't get is why the enlarger is meant to remain in fixed position in relation to the back wall. I would have expected it to travel towards the center of the room, in order...
  19. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

I'm curious too about the movement of the enlarger on the rails. my 184 if I'm not mistaken has the wheels arranged for a right / left movement instead of forward / backward, so it's not very clear...
  20. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

just received a small lot of parts for my 184.
included were these new-to-me metal "masks" of sorts.
they are made of sheet metal: 0,85mm thick.
I've gor six pieces which measure about

    1x ...

now that's interesting, with a dremel!

as long as it fits under the guides of your negative holder, it makes sense
  24. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

Actually the basic negative holder Nega 205 does not have beveled glasses, the sides are simply ground. The glasses are just placed there, not really blocked.
In the Lagraneg, Laraneg and Negateil...
  25. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

this is odd, if I recall correct both my Reglas 205 AN and normal glasses are beveled on four sides.

    how was their price?

  29. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

was wondering, what's the heaviest lens one can mount onto the L184 on a standard lensboard, like Vapla or Unipla?
I have 5lbs of lovely glass that I would like to put on it, not sure if I have to...
  30. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

    looks like it should work.

  32. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

jeez now you got me intrigued
  33. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

    let me add another thought.
I took the last picture with the lensboard put on a table, room light on, comfortably sitting at the best angle, etc.
How will it be reading those small numbers with...
  34. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

yes I was planning on using my Laratub on the L184 with this 100mm lens, but it seems impractical due mostly to the design of the lens and its fancy scale.
    If I put a standard Componon-S 50mm on the...
  35. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

the recess in the Laratub is so deep that my 100mm is all inside it and the fstop scale is completely hidden. I wonder how you do with your 50mm. looks like setting the aperture requires temporarily...
  36. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

    there you go.
the illuminated fstop scale is really a thing.
also have the 240 G-Componon but it doesn't sport such a sleek feature.
  37. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

    thanks IC.
so it seems they only made the Laratub for M39 lenses
  38. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

yes the plan is to print up to 40" from 6x7 negatives. I would like to use the Laratub, as I suspect you get some bellows compression with a flat lensboard. All of this is pure speculation on my...

well, not that I've seen a million of these G lenses lately
  40. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

not sure if it's better to post here or in a separate thread.
anyways, I just got a G-Componon 100mm lens that I planned to use on my Durst enlarger with the Laratub recessed lensboard.
    The...
