Re: X-ray film from Z&Z Medical

Yes, I use the single emulsion and recommend you do the same. It's great film. Many posts on this forum that explain why folks prefer the single emulsion for photographic purposes.

  3. Re: Can I still get parts for a Majestic Tripod?

HELP: I need a leg locking casting and locking wheel and bolt for a 4800 tripod leg. Bencher, Inc. was sold to Vibroplex in 2015 (their amateur radio cw paddles - no mention of the tripods) and...

Pere, thanks for the "drop test" info. I used replenished XTOL and am going to add that test to my arsenal.

Re: Where to get a lens board drilled?

Leigh, just what do you find objectionable in my description? Drilling a round hole in a piece of wood is not rocket science; I know, I am actually a "rocket scientist" as well (BAE, Ga. Tech). All...

Re: Where to get a lens board drilled?

Just get a hole saw of the correct diameter, put it on a drill, clamp the lens board to a larger board, and drill away. I've made many for both my "modern" view cameras and my "classic" sheet film...
  7. Re: RRS QR Plate options for Sinar P/C/F type 4x5 camera?

A lens plate as you mentioned will certainly work - I use one myself. I believe it is the 100mm one from RRS.

On my Toyo 45A and other 4x5's with a solid base, just about any camera plate will...

    Re: Changing bag light leak

Cover the changing bag with your darkcloth, if it is large enough. If not, get a couple of yards of black velveteen (it also works well as a light absorbing black background).

    Another alternative...
  9. Re: Ways to unfreeze a stuck lens cell in a very old shutter?

Great idea on the hose clamp!
  10. Re: Ways to unfreeze a stuck lens cell in a very old shutter?

Nyoil is not penetrating like Kroil. I would get a small amount of Kroil and give it a try - it has worked for me. I use the Nyoil for lubing shutters.

Re: Wista, Sinar or Cambo 4x5.

New bellows for a 45A are about $100 and you can install them yourself.

The Sinar F's are an excellent choice as well.

Re: Sinar Shutter on Field Camera

The Sinar shutter cable does stop the aperture down on the way to firing the shutter. The way to avoid the sometimes maligned Sinar Shutter Shake, I have found, thanks to posts on this forum, is to...

Re: Copal Sinar Norma stuck open

Leigh is quite correct if the spring is used for timing. I have only wound springs that are not involved in the timing process, only in holding levers in position. Of course, they have to be...

Re: Copal Sinar Norma stuck open

Yes, take it apart and take a look. Only four screws to open it up. Clean it by flushing with denatured alcohol, holding the assembly so that the alcohol will drain off. DO NOT INVERT IT. If I...
  15. Re: Using the Sinar Copal Shutter with deep lenses: Add a middle Standard?

Yes, add a middle standard, as I did. I simply use a standard from one of my F's, it doesn't have to be the dedicated auxillary standard. I use a bag bellows from the middle standard to the front...

    Re: Replacing Gundlach Korona Bellows

You may want to reconsider the hot glue. I would recommend instead Pliobond - It is soluble in alcohol and is much easier to clean up and stays flexible.

    Re: Calumet C-1 Bellows Replacement

I haven't had to replace the bellows yet on any of my 8x10's or 5x7's, only some 4x5's. That is the eBay seller from whom I have gotten some. The last one was for a Toyo 45A, and no, it wasn't...

    Re: Film holders-care and feeding

Book binders tape - I use 1 1/2 inch wide, lay it out on a nylon cutting board, use a razor blade knife and a metal ruler and cut strips to size. Works great.

  21. Re: Need help to identfiy whre the problem occurred

    Re: Collectors out /there?

  36. Re: use developer dilution to tame high water temps?

You may want to check your calculations again. From the MDC that recommends 18 minutes @20C for FP4+ exposed at ISO100, 27C would give 8 minutes 56 seconds. That is for Pyro at 1+1+100. That...

  40. Re: Please help identify strange marks on processed sheet film
