The resolution and D-Max are insane on this. I'm not worried about keeping an older system going - especially given that, as a last resort, I can get a brand new PC to run it with windows 7 and...

By far, the nicest most state of the art facility I've ever seen is the darkroom setup at ICP.
Well, I finally procured a PDF version of the LinoColor manual if anyone needs it. Thinking of upgrading the computer to a refurbished G4 or G5 running an older version of OS X and getting NewColor...
I couldn't help it. This guy was selling a large format printer that I wanted and the price was decent. I've read about these high end scanners being so much better than my Epson v750 that I...
The sciences can teach us how to build (and detonate) a hydrogen bomb, yes, but it is the humanities that teach us why we shouldn't....
Even in New England it can get warm. I have developed at 75 degrees but prefer 68. I'm plumbing an aquarium chiller into my Jobo. Based on how I *believe* the cold water solenoid works, I don't...
Thank you so much, guys! I'm very excited to be getting this scanner. I'll be picking it up in two weeks! I've only ever scanned on an Epson using silverfish, which, my research indicates will...
Hello all!
I'm sorry if this has been covered in the past. I did a forum search and couldn't really find anything on this scanner. Currently I own a Epson v750 flatbed scanner for quick personal...
The title pretty much says it all. I can get an ok deal (I think... he's asking $800) on this scanner with drum, however, it doesn't come with software or a computer. I'm an all mac shop and can't...
I have been seeing images shot with these lenses for quite some time (apparently my whole life, if I really think about it) but have never owned any. I thought that they were only used for older,...
Come to NYC and visit the School at ICP (International Center of Photography). It is, by far, the nicest traditional facility I have ever seen in my entire life. The darkrooms are huge and...
I used to print with a VCCE head but have now been printing B&W with a dichroic head. I use a combination of both yellow and magenta at all times to maintain exposure consistence through various...
Yep! I've shot loads of E-6 but never processed it at home. I think I had a slight color issue (tad warm) that I was able to correct, but still not quite right. Shot a couple of rolls of provia on...
Thanks. Yes, I wanted her lit a bit hot to remove certain skin details. I know most of you guys are landscape guys, so I'm not sure how much you like fashion related images, but that's primarily...
Thank you! Yes it was. I lit it with two strobes with grids in 7" reflectors specifically to get that look.
Not bad for a well used $200 unit, but I can see how I might want to upgrade to a newer unit in the future.

Have you tried Delta 100? I think it scans beautifully with very little grain.
If you're still looking at Cambo, try to find a Master PC or a Legend PC. I shot the legend for quite a while and really liked it, and just upgraded to a Master PC. I could not be happier.
OMG! Dude, I was JUST looking at buying another director's finder as my old one went missing years ago. I just downloaded Viewfinder Pro and it is pure awesome. Thank you so much!
Thanks for all the responses guys! I never thought there would be so many to an apparently often asked about question. I've been having a ton of fun playing with the movements and this weekend plan...
That's a hell of a system. I picked up some Portra 100 and Ektar 100 as well as Provia to test. Thanks for the advice.
How are your eyes?
I am nearsighted (or is it farsighted?), I can't see things close to me. So, with some loupes I have a hard time focusing. If the loupe isn't focused to the ground glass,...
Do you really think that LF film photographers (or film photographers in general, moving forward) really make up enough of a market that they should base their business model on what we might like? ...
Ok so after I posted this I realized I should probably just do a forum search, which I did. It seems you guys already answered this question in depth. So thank you, past yous!
I upgraded from a beat up Cambo Legend to a nearly spanking new Cambo Master PC. Very excited!! The new camera has base tilts as well as the standard axial tilts. Just wondering how you guys work...
Well it kind of makes sense no?
These shots will have noting to do with the mind of my sitter. The "sitters" will be hired models and actors. It is about what's in my mind that matters, not theirs.
Yes, I have an instant film back for the camera. I TA a 4x5 class and we go through tons of instant film. As I said, I'm pretty comfortable shooting standard portraits on LF, but I haven't done...
Well, I have a pretty substantial lighting and grip kit and assistants are no problem (as well as set builders, etc.) and I am pretty comfortable with the 4x5 work I've done to date. But your point...
The DOF was my biggest concern - even at 4x5, which is what I'm going to focus on. I have two lenses for this camera now, a 210 and a 90. I will look into the 120. Any other focal lengths you...
I started looking to see if I could get an 8x10 Cambo Master rear standard for my 4x5 but I don't seem to be able to? I wonder if I could just remove the 4x5 back and put an 8x10 back on there?
I've actually considered color neg as I've always liked Provia for skin tones, but I'm more accustomed to shooting chromes and always thought they scanned better? I only scan a little bit myself on...
While I have a fair bit of experience shooting 4x5, I've only ever shot 8x19 once and I don't have any kit for it. Medium format would be easy as I have a number of cameras I could choose from. In...
I've spent a lot of time shooting technical cameras for product, still life and some portraiture. Ocassionally I try my hand at landscapes, but they're really not my thing.
Anywho, I have a book...
You made if farther than I did, I can't even seem to get in. I don't really want to glue the bellows on myself, but I guess I could if there are no other options.
I saw one on Ebay, but I was too late and it had sold. But it was sweet! Bright red leather. Does anyone know where these might be purchased?
darr has it exactly right. You can tell right away who shoots for the "love" of it, or for the "art" of it right away - and there's nothing wrong with either of those pursuits. I love photography. ...
Sounds good guys. So what you're saying it it would cost $1,700 to upgrade the motor, so I might as well buy another one? Well, at least I figure I got a good deal on this one at $250. If it dies...
That's a shame, I would have liked to have used an expert drum. But that's ok, I kind of got this on a whim as a a friend only wanted $200 for the whole kit. I guess if it breaks down, and I really...
