looking for a bag for 8x10 film holders

    Erik,

I use a lightweight case designed for a laptop computer. It holds 4 or 5 holders, is just the right size, and was inexpensive.

Processing 13x18 film in the US

    Ted,

Instead of racks/hangers, some labs simply use a clip on one corner of the film, so size wouldn't be a problem. However, those labs are probably getting quite rare.

    Beseler 45 MCRX Enlarger Questions

    Mark,

I have the 45MCRX with a EL-Nikkor 135mm lens. That setup will do an 18x25 print on the baseboard.

With a 150mm lens, your measurement of 15x19 on the baseboard sounds about right.

    As...

    Wollensak 159mm F 12.5

I no longer have my Wollensak E.W.A., but I recall it was a fairly simple operation.

However, at the new widest aperture, the image will be too soft for critical focussing. You CAN get a moderate...

    how to use asymmetric movements

    Joseph,

Have you seen this article by Richard Sexton on the Ebony website?

  6. Process/APO-Nikkors vs APO-Ronar, G-Claron, Fuji A

    Tony,

The Symmar-S will (just) cover at infinity. I have an APO-Nikkor 9/480: a fine lens, but a pain to use IMHO. I've done some church interiors with it, but generally use a Fuji 450C instead...
  7. Compatibility of metal field cameras and C-2N roll film holder

I've used a C-2N with my Toyo 45A, no problems.

    Infinity Stops-Toyo 45A

I've used a Toyo 45A for years - never needed the infinity stops. Much quicker and easier to simply aim yer eyes at the ground glass!
  9. How important is large aperture to short lenses?

I use the older f8 Super Angulons (65, 75 & 90mm). The f8 isn't so bad shooting outdoors in decent light, but dimly lit indoor shots can be tricky. I'm quite happy with them for backpacking.

    Battling Vignetting

Yeah, my bellows tend to sag too. Much easier to see through the front of the lens.

    Battling Vignetting

Like Tim said: view through the front of the lens. With no film holder in place or focusing cloth covering the GG, it's usually pretty easy to tell if you can see all 4 corners of the GG or not. If...

    LF film in Moab, UT

I was in Moab recently, and Action Shots is just about the only place in town. I don't know how much LF they had - just some 4x5 duplicating film, I believe.

    math question re: enlarging

    Dave,

I haven't used your formula, but it looks pretty good. I have a recent Kodak B&W Dataguide (not with me, unfortunately), and the enlargement wheel indicates something like what you've...

    math question re: enlarging

The above formulas will indeed get you in the ballpark, but don't forget to include bellows factor. If you start with a 2x enlargement, then raise the enlarger for a 4x enlargement, your effective f...

    Nikkor 300 M quality?

Thank you to all who have responded to this post.

I've done some additional tests, and the lens performs quite well at f22. My first attempts were made at f45 (and smaller!), and I believe that...

    how old are we?

40 years old, here in Indianapolis. And I feel younger at 40 than I did at 25!

    #0 adapters for #00 shutters?

    John,

I was in the same situation. I purchased two #00 to #0 adaptors from S.K. Grimes (www.skgrimes.com), and they're perfect! I seem to recall they were about $30 each. Now, if I ever change...
  20. My first LF camera: Meridian vs Crown Graflex vs Calumet Cadet
