  2. Ektaskan br/a x-ray film reciprocity characteristics

Does ektaskan br/a x-ray film have the same reciprocity failure characteristics/formula as tmax 100 when used for very long exposure pictorial photography?

    Pinhole 8x10 using Xray film.

I made a cylindrical 8x10in pinhole camera for fun. I like this landscape image I took with this camera because of its flaws. I processed the orthochromatic xray film in 1:200 rodinal with stand...
  6. Re: Rear lens component used as long lens

    Hi Rudi,
This explains why I needed 575mm of extension for the rear component of the RF3 (300mm lens) the nodal point is probably 25mm in from the surface of the rear element. That is 575+25mm...
  7. Re: Rear lens component used as long lens

That was my thinking Mark- I am not an optical engineer but I thought stopping the lens right down might help. I am aware of diffraction issues but that is always a trade off for me as I generally do...
  8. Re: Rear lens component used as long lens

    Hi Dan,
I tried the rear group of my RF3 300mm f/10 on my 4x5in and it required 575mm of extension. On the ground glass at least there appears to be no aberration at a marked aperture of f/32...
  9. Re: Rear lens component used as long lens

Thankyou all for your comments. Has anybody tried colour with film or paper using the rear lens component?

  10. Rear lens component used as long lens

I have an RF5 lomo process lens 450mm f10 that is a symmetrical double gauss design. I was wondering whether I could use the rear element as an ~800mm lens if I stop it all the way down to cover ...

    Re: Wallaby Grass Seeds

    Hi Neal,
I think technique is more important than lens choice. I regularly use apertures that go well into diffraction territory for photomacrography but for 3D subjects I would rather trade off...

    Re: Wallaby Grass Seeds

    Hi Randy,
Thanks. I use the small aperture to get maximum depth of field in photomacrography - I am willing to trade off diffraction for dof.

    Re: Wallaby Grass Seeds

    Hi Kumar,
The lens is reversed however there is no need as the lens is symmetrical but I used a step up ring glued to the lens board to attach the lens.

  28. Re: BAUSCH & LOMB Aero Tessar 24" f/6-610mm

True Robert it is a Tessar design - so symmetrical and infinity focus would be around 24" of extension. I saw the lens today - you're right I am not going to attempt to hang it off my 5x4" camera....
  29. BAUSCH & LOMB Aero Tessar 24" f/6-610mm

Does any one know how this lens performs as a telephoto lens for 4x5in (I know it is very heavy just concerned about image quality)? How much extension is required to focus on infinity?

  34. Can the lomo RF3 process lens be reversed?
