    Yeah, I knew COBOL programmers who never saw a computer. I first coded in the machine room, PDP 11/70s, and VAXen. My first clue for poor I/O was listening to the RMO and RPO drives rattling.

    What to they call machine language now? How about assembler? See? Most young coders have no clue. The best contemporary coders are those that know the libraries. Nobody codes from scratch anymore.

    About ten years ago I bought a 70mm Combat Graphic set, in military case from a militaria guy who had no interest in things that were not instruments of destruction. I got it for $900 USD and sold it...
