I'd suggest that you pay $50 and have the View Camera Store run your tests. Fred will expose 5 sheets of film for you. You develop each sheet at different times and send them back to him. He'll...
Speed Graphics have plenty of bellows draw for a 210mm lens. As for a cheap portrait lens - the 203mm Ektar is excellent, and you can fold the camera closed with it attached.
Offer to sell him the neg and rights to all reproductions
And there are alternatives to the way Wall Street is run now, other than adopting the system in Cuba. Creating a false dichotomy does not further your point; it only makes you appear ignorant.
I've decided to buy an RH designs Analyzer Pro instead of a dedicated densitometer.
LOL. That's why I bought a Nikon CS 9000 ED. My Epson 4990 now serves as a paper weight.
If you stopped to think about Jody's comment, instead of trumpeting your vastly superior intellect, then you'd realize that non-visible light could matter. It is waste because it consumes power, and...
Paul Buff has a nice table of expected light output with various modifiers. Even though the OP doesn't own Alien Bees, he can still use the table to estinmate light loss with various modifiers.
...
I'd only be interested if I could find a manual for it.
I used to borrow a friend's Heiland densitometer, but unfortunately it has disappeared. So now I'm looking for a densitometer to test B&W film. I just need straight transmission readings - nothing...
I always acknowledge that photography is an expensive hobby. And then I take credit for not buying a little red sports car or chasing young women.
I used both quite a bit before I decided to by an Omega D5V.
Sounds as if you're really testing software interpolation and not optical resolution.

I've used a BlackJacket for several years now. No complaints.
I think I'd buy a burro to carry the load. Until then I'll stick with 4x5.
SK Grimes can do just about anything that you can imagine. I've had them do a few routine things.

Outsourced to the lowest-wage country?
So what is the status of Photo Tools Pro? I'm interested in it, but not unless it works on my phone/iOS6.
I'd send it to real machinists:

A female friend of mine, probably 5' 6" on tip toes, shoots 8x10 and contact prints with Platinum. She doesn't frequent forums, though.
I've enjoyed looking at all of the photos in this thread, regardless of format.
I dump XTOL with each use. But I reuse fixer, of course. And I send C-41 out to a local lab.
I have an NEC PA241W and the SpectraView package. Great monitor.
Just stand it in the corner . . .
I can live with that. But I'll wait to see if the 360mm of bellows draw is the true value of if it's a marketing number. Either way, I really am looking forward to getting my new camera.
Whatever makes people happy is fine with me . . . But the flip side is that they shouldn't complain when I do a bit of film testing.
Yes, there are a lot of visitors to Yosemite. But the crowds thin out once you're 1/4 mile from the trail head. So there are advantages to the increasing rate of obesity!
Agreed. I ordered mine from Badger Graphics this week. A custom camera with 400mm of draw would take close to 2 months to arrive (and would be $180 more with delivery added), so I'll use a top hat...
The Shen Hao XPO has a bellows draw of 360mm. You can have one customized, but it adds $100 to the cost, and shipping from China is $100.
A bullet only has to be close. Framing and focus, on the other hand . . . .
You should use what works for you. I do find it odd, though, that people who do not use the zone system often choose to mischaracterize it.
There's nothing wrong with understanding the materials with which you work.
That must mean that the entire company is up for sale now . . .

It is kind of funny that we tell new folks to use the search function . . . .
I've done plenty of tests where I expose every zone that I'll use, and a few besides that. Like I said - I work on the linear part of the curve, so there's no need to test the extreme. I understand...
Two points determine a line, and I'm always operating on the linear part of the curve. So I find the other zones by using y = mx +b.
I only have on 4990, so all I need is one stupid sale.
Thanks, Leigh. That's one more that I don't have to worry about because I know you've got it covered.
