And now again at 53 😳
Seems every March and October Fuji drops a film bomb.
I’ve just revisited the forum after a few years away. Sad news indeed. RIP
Quite the time capsule. I noticed I replied here when I was 36, then again at 45....and now I'm 48.
Glad it wasn't just me.
Roger...that was it...thank!
That's weird. I saw it when I logged out...but now that I am logged back in, my post doesn't show it.
I've gone into my settings and uploaded a shot for my Avatar. It shows on my profile, but when I post, no Avatar appears. Suggestions?
Wonderful photograph Ken!
Something about the film I love....the imperfections!
Funny looking back. I posted in this thread 9 years ago that I was 36. I turn 45 in a few months. My the time flies.
Enjoy! One of my favourite spots.
Good info to hear. I'll be ordering a wet plate holder from them shortly
I realize that...I simply shared my experience.....as opposed to attitude. See the difference?
I find the opposite....Kodak scans smooth as opposed to Fuji pepper grain.
It's only a few miles from downtown....but don't tell anyone! The whole process went better than I thought. I'll be doing a lot of landscape work with Wet Plate from now on. Jorge would fall out...
A few from my first attempt at Wet Plate. I am totally in love with this process!

Scans of 4x5 Ektar look great from my Epson V700 up to about 40"
I've always prefered FP4 for portraits and Acros for landscapes...regardless of developer.
Neat idea. The aspect ratio seems wrong though. Seems like a 3:2 ratio instead of 4:5
Fuji still makes Astia?
That's the best idea yet. These threads raged on years ago...some of the people are different (ghost of Jorge for example) but the stuff is the same.
I don't agree. When someone is selling a lens for $800 that normally sells online for $300...prospective buyers should be informed of such. That's not rude....it's saving someone from making a...
Roman Johnston who posts a number of photos on DPReview has a photo of the same tree....that many agreed was far better than Lik's version.
After viewing Rodney's photographs at his Pier 39 Gallery a week ago, I'd say the P65+ shots, while good, where not up to the 8x10 photos. The IQ180 photographs though were another matter....they...
Chris, Rodney shoots with 8x10 Astia...and Astia is no more. I think that's why he's switching over to MF digital backs.
Ranks right up there with "Grainography Print"
Well, first off, the Ilford Paper wasn't really an archival paper. As well, the RC was designed more for dye based inks as it encapsulates the inks. The pigment inks from the Epson could have been...
Thanks Lenny.
While I respect Lenny greatly, 1100ppi of real info from the V700 is plain wrong. I've tested mine out to around 2200ppi with 35mm and MF. I've never done a test sheet with 4x5...but I know 1100ppi...
An interesting post. Unfortunately, for you to establish an operating color film line, you'd need access to tens of millions for startup costs. Good luck getting people lined up for that. ...
Agreed. I have a Win 7 workstation with 6gb of ram and I have no problem with 1gb 4x5 scans.
I switched to Ilford for all my B&W. I garee....Kodak is a slow motion trainwreck!
Agreed Roger. For me, it HP5 in HC110 Dil B....for iso 650.
Ilford HP5 is a superb emulsion in 35mm.
It's starting to feel like we'll have Fuji for color and Ilford for B&W. Not that it would be a bad thing....but I find it hard to believe that Kodak could vanish.
Looks like restructuring lawyers were hired this afternoon:

Here's the press release:
Press Release:
Fujifilm Professional has announced that Fujifilm Japan is to cease its manufacture of Quickload films in April 2010.
Fujifilm's Senior Product...
I recall a Fuji press release stating that they were no longer making QL. I'll see if I can find it. I love the QL system so if indeed they are still around....I'm stoked!!!
The Brothers Wright are a good example of applying the film niche to their business model. Check out the Twin Lens blog...it's a good read and a good example of what the latest emulsions can record.
Sorry, that's not correct. A large amount of the error correction is built upon recording a large amount of redundant data.
