Yup, I thought the same. This is FP4+.
Wonder if I'm doing something "wrong" somehow, during scanning, or can developing do this ?

I've seen references to some of of "retaining clip" for the lensboard on Sinars (F in my case).
Anyone have any information or can point me to one ?
Thanks,
Fred
Considering getting this lens as opposed to the f/5.6 version (size and weight savings basically).
The question is since it's relatively "slow" (f/8) how hard is it to compose and focus with,...

Major light leak (head space problem ;) ), however the effect is kinda neat, I think. Makes it look "old".

I have an Epson 4870 scanner that came with Silverfast AI and Photoshop Elements 2.0.
Looks like Elements, or at least the 2.0 version that I have, doesn't support full 16 bit color depth.

I have an Epson 4870 (new) and am using Silverfast AI (that came with it).
Doesn't matter what I set SF AI to (16 bit gray, 48 bit color, 16-8 bit gray, etc), it always produces an outfile (.TIF)...

I kinda messed this up. Got the film loaded in the same slot as the slider, so I got some light...
Trying to figure out, when scanning, either negatives or transparencies, monochrome or color, if it's better to sharpen when scanning (SilverFast AI) or after in Photoshop or whatever..
Thanks...

While looking at lenses I see some are:
"db mount".. What is that ?
Thanks,
Fred
Rick,
I wasn't planning on using a probe meter.
I've just seen the term "metering back" used a lot and didn't know what
it was.
Thanks for clearing that up though :)
Best,
Thank you.
That cleared it up..
Best,
Fred
Ok, I give up.
What's a metering back ?
Thanks,
Fred
Denny (or others),
Any of the "F" series would be fine ?
I'm not seeing many F1's for sale, however I've found a fair amount of F's and F+ for sale.
Thanks again,
Fred
The A1 that's available here locally, would be "as good" of a choice as, say, an F1 ?
From the bit of information that I've been able to find so far is that the A1 is a lighter camera, I guess...
Rick,
Good points and I have now had a couple more microseconds to think about things ;)
- I'm not sure about what the shortest lens that I would use is, at least not now. Remember that I'm a...
Ok, since I got my lens question answered in my previous thread, I'm kinda rethinking the used Tachihara that I've seen.
Now I'm leaning much more towards a Shen-Hao, specifically:

Bob,
I can't check the for-sale section yet. I just signed up on this site about a week ago and, it appears, you have to be a member for 30 days before you can access the for-sale section.
Fred
Actually I'm thinking now a little more towards the Shen-Hao PTB 4X5.
It has interchangeable bellows. Bellows extend to 390mm.
It's new. Comes with a lensboard (I'd have to get a lens regardless of...
Bob (and Jon),
Thanks for the replies.
Bob, what's "fragile" with the camera ?
I'm, generally, pretty gentle on all of my camera equipment, so perhaps it won't be a huge concern for me.

Looking at getting a used one as my first real foray into the large format field.
