    Re: Monorail vs field camera?

Think about the combo I use.

A Toyo 45AII and all the lenses mounted in the 110mm boards. Then pick up an inexpensive Toyo rail camera like a 45D,E,F or even a G,GII or GX with the 110mm to 158mm...

Re: Have 4x5...BUT want to go larger

Look for a Toyo 810M. Good camera and your 158mm Toyo boards will fit or if you have Toyo 110mm boards for a field camera they will fit with the use of an adaptor available from Toyo.

Re: Toyo monorail mounting, why freeplay?

It comes in handy in the studio when using a studio camera stand instead of a tripod. Some camera stand heads didn't have left-right tilt only forward-back tilt. So you use the movement in the rail...

    Re: Toyo view 4x5

The E and F had one big problem. The "ears" that the rise/fall gear rod goes through are brittle plastic. If they are damaged the camera is useless. Make sure you have it shipped well insured.

Re: Thinking about Toyo 45AII + Lenses

I have a 45AII with 65, 75 and a 90 for my short lenses. I use the 65 and 75 more than the 90. The 90 and 65 are on recessed boards because I like the extra movement but it is rare that I actually...

I tried it but didn't like the hassle. I just compose the 2x4 in the center of a full size neg and crop when I print.

Re: New to LF, need help picking a camera

  15. Poll: Re: Poll: What metering system do you use? (updated)

I use several of them depending on the film, subject and location. I don't meter a studio portrait on color neg, landscape on B&W neg or a product shot on chrome the same way.
