I agree with you both regarding S. California (Baja too) early and late sun. People shots on the beach, setting or low sun, and medium haze. I feels very. Rewarding to finish up a late afternoon...
I bought a set from Nikon about 18 mos ago. I'm sure they are still available. I think they are about $15 a mask or about $70 for the set. Nikon USA sourced some of my set from Japan as not all in...
You are right. The real light fall from extensive rise relates to lens optics and varies from center of lens axis (none) to edge of image circle. I'm sure Michael Briggs knows a little more. Thanks...
Aren't you effectively extending the lens-to-film-plane distance?..
Using a Schneider 72XL, with 30mm front rise for example.
What's your method for taking into consideration the extra exposure necessary when you use front rise - ie when using a wide angle lens on a tall achitectural subject - for example?
I swore off Pyrocat a few years ago because problems I had similar using Jobo. Admittedly I dont like being defeated as many others have reported consistent results. People on this site were...
I think it means that Kodak has sliced up their last master roll of Kodak TXP 320 and will discontinue it soon in favor of TMax 400. That's what it says to me.
Did any one else notice that Kodak just raised the price of their 8x10 TXP Tri X 10 sheet box from $54 to $77?
On the positive note, they *slightly* decreased their price of 8x10 Portra 160 8x10.
For the B&W and color negative film - add a little extra exposure.
For the transparency film (aside from the 2009 - which should look like new) slightly underexpose from what you normally would...
This thread should have been titled
"Ilford is Prepared to Add 70mm Film to ULF Film Run"
Good business is mutually beneficial.
Yes, instead of properly triple boxing your exposed film, you only double boxed it (at some point) and fogged the film.
Been there, done that! My film looked exactly as you described. You live...
Hey Vinny, just wondering, what year exactly in the 1990's is your Kodak PRN?
BTW, it's anecdotes like yours that proves most useful.
That's actually not a bad price for that film. Maybe u should hold on to it and use it
If true, that would rank right up there with Ron Wayne selling his 10% share of Apple, Inc for $2300 in 1976.
Low and behold - there ARE adjustable detents on the Toyo 45AII!
PS Brian, and Bob. Yeah spirit level in order to parallel film plane to vertical - check.
Now with my front lens board already...
The camera or the detent? :)
I'm trying to shoot architecture requiring perspective control efficiently. That extra time for "focus near tilt far" can be a drag not to mention unsafe in urban areas (police security criminals)
A lot of good ideas here. Thank you everyone for taking the time. I will check my Toyo to see if it has adjustable zero detents for front lens stage tilt. Ive had this camera for 13 years and I don't...
Jobo's Rita is working on it as we speak.
I like Luke79's first the best of all on this page. It "works".
I totally doubt that. put a zero at the end, maybe. global market - Chinese - plus we (USA) are a nation of can do'ers. SOMEBODY will still be processing C-41 in 20 years. trust me.
#7 is Key (7. No address on my web postings, website, I have a PO Box, and get B&H shipments at my wife's work which is open 9-5.)
EVERYONE knows what's inside a UPS shipment from B&H!
Yeah, I saw the Style and Technique forum but wasn't sure if I should post my question on movements/parallelism there. Hardly anyone is looking that the sub forum also.
I like to shoot architecture requiring perspective control with my Toyo Field 45 AII because the camera is compact and transportable. But it's really not designed for the cause.
Although it's a...
Kirk you have probably shot 100x as much film as I have and I know you know your stuff.
But I was under the impression that it's divide by 3 for 4x5 (so a 90mm 4x5 lens/3 = 30mm lens equivalent...
Yes, in the USA civil courts the photographer would be held partially responsible and rightfully so.
...and not enough on technique?
Is there a "Technique" mini forum on this forum? That's what large format is about anyways.
My understanding is that Rick is correct. Wide angle lenses will have more depth of field in the image plane, but LESS depth of field in the virtual image (film) plane.
Someone with more...
Yeah right, like on the dating sites where every woman refers to herself as "an attractive woman".
So you tell her to wait on the porch and you'll pick her up in your red Toyota coming from the...
I will bite:
For a person such as myself who uses exclusively variable contrast fiber paper, a variable contrast fiber paper master printer in my judgment should be highly skilled at:

Alot of *artsy* answers, and the predictable parsing my reference to his young age (Sure one can be a master sprinter at 31, but not a master printer:)
Was hoping for someone to go out on limb,...
I tried it once. The stuff looked awful for a supposed world class kodak film. Seriously.
Hello, I came across this article here http://lens.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/07/03/developing-in-the-darkroom-tray-by-tray/ of a young man of 31 described as a master printer who photographed developing...
Hey Mr. Hoegh, I am a native of Schenectady NY.
Only in Schenectady (home of GE) would one find a LF lens out in garage sale table.
1997 Schneider 150mm Componon S enlarging lens.
Sanchi, I do not have the lenses I mentioned yet, but will soon within a month or two.
A good friend of mine is selling me his mint++ Apo Grandagon 45 and 65 Grandagon N lenses for $1,000 USD...
Oren,
Funny you should say. I just got off phone with Bob Salomon and that's one thing I mentioned at end of our conversation. But he also suggested checking Rodenstock helical focus mount...
Called Calumet for another price. They are researching it. He doesn't know my postal address is Beverly Hills. Yeah, people are jealous these days. They see "Beverly Hills" and assume you're loaded....
