Hahahahaha well, I'm describing it from memory. The thing is hugely huge. Next chance I'm over to Print Lab I'll try to measure it. Whatever the size, it's a beautiful thing.
FWIW, if anyone is interested, I know of an 8x10 Salzman enlarger available in Chicago. I believe it's free, but can't guarantee that until I talk to my contact again. And anyone who doesn't know...
Bad comparison. I use film once. Exactly once. I expose it, I develop it, it's done.
This reminds me of something else, as far as cost is concerned. I pay as little as I can for usable broadband in Chicago, but it's still more than Adobe's monthly fee. Adobe's fee is also less than...
Everything I've heard from anyone I know about their customer service has been exemplary. Have had no need to contact them myself yet, but their products are great and they really seem to take great...
I guess we just see it very, very differently. I see this as a step forward, overall. I guess we'll just have to see how it all pans out.
Your tone is inappropriate and runs dangerously close to personal attack. I am an imaging professional and I do damned good work. I'll thank you to not assert otherwise.
Overall, Adobe's products...
First of all, here's an interesting analysis of the financial side of things.
In addition to my own creative work, in which I use enough Adobe software to need the master collection, I work as a...
Awesome shot, Mark! Were you able to do any testing ahead of time?
You can buy a hell of a lot of film for the cost of an IQ260.
Besides, a lot of us have found there to be a lot of great things to be gained by adopting a hybrid process. By shooting film and...
Any news/progress on this? I'm still super-stoked to contribute!
Jellied bleach, aka toilet cleaner. Easier to control than regular bleach.
Plus, you can actually clear the negative half of the film, too. (If you're motivated enough to tape it face-down to a surface then use jellied bleach to strip the black stuff off!)
Oh good, yes, you have the right back then.
But yeah, close and cock the shutter, pull the dark slide, expose the film. Usually best to replace the darkslide and remove the back from the camera...
Unless you found 4x5 pack film (FP100C45), you're going to need a 405 back to use with the Fuji FP100c pack film.
Loading the back is pretty straightforward. Unwrap the film, put it in the back...
Also, Central Camera on Wabash appears to have some in stock, at least it looks like it on their site:

I just called Calumet and they are out at their main store on Goose Island, but they do have some at the Rush St. location. Have your son call them at 312-943-5531 and they will hold it for him until...
Just sent you an email.
LF as basis for commercial photography has clearly become so rare that its actual existence might be disputed, but as a whole commercial photography is alive and well. Volatile, yes, and highly...
Masataka Nakano is probably my number one, not really sure about positions 2-5. He did a book of places in Tokyo with nobody in them, and he did it on 4x5 and 8x10 color film. The results are...
I've actually been pretty impressed with how well Alien Skin emulates the look of certain films. A given look does seem somewhat based on actual film looks. If there's one look that stands out to...
I guess the new version of the packaging hasn't shown up on B&H yet? A search for "HC-110" yields only the one, discontinued result. Just the sight of it nearly made me cry, though. Even with the...
Had a nice reply all typed out, then accidentally closed the tab. Second try, abbreviated version.
The Matthews stuff is really nice, but obviously not cheap. A 96x96" Scrim Jim with a white...
Excited enough I just bought another Polaroid back on eBay. Pretty sure I still have one somewhere but I haven't seen it in almost ten years, and I figure better safe than sorry, should this actually...
Have you tried emailing Chamonix about this?
I like her style. She places an emphasis on upper midtones and highlights in that she prints everything lower than that quite dark. Also looks like plenty of selective tonal adjustments/burning to...
I was going to relax tonight, but now it seems I'm going to be taking a swan dive into my recent work instead. That's a good thing! :D
Mine looks a tiny bit off, but measures out square. There do appear to be little screws on each side for adjusting this, but I can't figure out what fits them.
If we are to rely only on "experts," we will not wind up with the resources the community needs and deserves. Not all the experts are what they're cracked up to be, and many humble people out there...
Many are busy, yes, but people can find the time if it's important to them. I'm not concerned about people who wouldn't contribute without compensation. We can do without people with that kind of...
I wonder about the alternative of putting our heads together to see what sort of articles are most needed and then setting about getting people in the community to write them. If we were to really...
Why not well-illustrated articles in the wiki?
Count me in.
Seriously. I'd love a print of that!
Cool setup! I look forward to seeing more of what you do with it.
For what it's worth, I have been scanning 4x5 negatives with the V600 with good results. I scan in two pieces then use Photomerge in Photoshop to stitch the files together. Not an ideal way of...
I've standardized on dilution G (1+31 from stock) for years now with excellent results. Last I shot Tri-X 320, I exposed it at 200 and developed 24 min at 20º C. This was for a dozen sheets of 4x5 at...
Yeah, that might be pushing it for lifespan with any changing bag!
