Kodak Enlarging Ektar 90 F4.5, seeking info

I'm seeking information about the Kodak Enlarging Ektar 90mm F4.5. I have the lens, mine dates to 1967, but I've been unable to find any technical information about it at all so if anyone can...
  3. Wollensak Enlarging PRO Raptar enlarging lenses, seeking info

Seeking any published documentation about 'Wollensak Enlarging PRO Raptar' enlarging lenses (not the regular 'Enlarging Raptars'), such as price lists, brochures, catalogues, Technical or...

    Re: Early 40's Ektar Coated?

The 1948 Kodak Data Book, Kodak Lenses, uses the term 'Luminized' and describes it over about a page.

My 1946 Projection Ektar 4.5/75 (enlarging lens) is 'Luminized', it has a 'L' in a circle and...

    Re: Early 40's Ektar Coated?

As mentioned above, Kodak advertised coatings.

    "L"=Luminized (coated).
    No "L"= not coated.
  6. Re: What would happen if I used a 240mm enlarging lens to take photos?

It simply means harsh or distracting bokeh, often characterised with a double line effect with straight edges that are out of focus, or a kind of onion ring or doughnut effect in out of focus...
  7. Re: What would happen if I used a 240mm enlarging lens to take photos?

If you expect painterly or pictorial effects then you will be disappointed. Most older enlarging lenses will flare more than taking lenses, but not in a dramatic way.

    Re: macro lens recommendation 4x5

Stradibarrius, the link below has some excellent lens tests by Mark Goodman. They are for various types of lenses, many of which may be useful to you, but they are performed relatively consistently...

Re: Sinar shutter vs many shutters for 4x5 use

Ian, Sinar is nice an easy to work with so I doubt you would go too far wrong with the F1. I have an F and P and find them great but the F is really a little flimsy, IMHO.

    And you can make...

Re: Wollensak 'Graphic' Raptar, seeking info

I thought my original question, about the difference/meaning of 'Graphic' vs normal Raptars, was very clear.

How is the above relevant to the original question?

Re: Wollensak 'Graphic' Raptar, seeking info

As I said, my lens is specifically a ‘Projection’ Ektar, being dated 1946. I'm quite aware that 'Projection' and 'Enlarging' Ektars are the same thing but where called by different names at different...

Re: Wollensak 'Graphic' Raptar, seeking info

How is the reason (or my intended application) relevant to the original question, how does it change the original question in any way?

Re: Wollensak 'Graphic' Raptar, seeking info

Ian, I don't have an identical non-'Graphic' Raptar to compare it with but it has 5 reflections looking at the front. I don't know what that means.

Thanks very much. It's a fantastic resource...

    Wollensak 'Graphic' Raptar, seeking info

How is the Graphic Raptar different to otherwise similar enlarging Raptars?

I have a Wollensak Graphic Raptar 3" (74mm) F4.5 which is quite a nice lens, no complaints, but I don't know anything...

Re: What to do with a 75mm Tominon.

I'm talking about the lens designed for use with the MP4, ie that fits onto the front of the shutter. I guess it's the barrel mount to use your terminology but often they are (wrongly) described as...

Re: What to do with a 75mm Tominon.

At infinity the Tominon 75/4.5 is extremely sharp in the centre (superb) but it seems to have field curvature, or something, and the sharpness falls off dramatically towards the edges, even when shot...

  25. Re: Are there any 'Polaroid like' positive alternatives for 8x10 or larger?

  26. Re: Are there any 'Polaroid like' positive alternatives for 8x10 or larger?

True, I was looking for some thing more DIY, that didn't have to be processed externally like tranny film. But yes, it's certainly 'one off'.

Some thing like the Efke paper or maybe a similar old...
