Thanks to everyone for the input and ideas - much appreciated, and great to read the rich discussion above. Our son has decided to join us for a few days, so am currently in negotiation with him...
Hello everyone - after a few years away, I am beginning to get back into LF photography now that I have retired. My wife and I have a few days in San Francisco in mid-October, mainly to help her...
This has the subtlety and beauty of a Chinese watercolour - remarkable!

+1; very good, tuco
Thanks, Bryan and chassis. This is a temple in Hong Kong, and the image is of incense coils, and the trays underneath to catch the ash.

Bravo, Frischbild!
That's great, Eliverto! May I ask - is this from the Lençóis Maranhenses?
Hello Martin - thank you.
Thanks Ken - I also prefer the second one. The tide was coming in fast which was quite dramatic; I will go back in different tidal conditions.

That's excellent, Reinhold. I like the luminescent clouds, and also the shadow of the looming weather front.
My sincere condolences, Vaughn, to you and your family.
Thanks, Peter & Leigh.
Leigh - it's the way the plaster has been applied that gives that particular texture. I think it photographs well, and would work well as a background in other kinds of...
It's cold here in Switzerland, but nothing like the north-east US!
Here's one from earlier this year;

Wow - excellent.
That's great, Ken.
Thanks, tuco & Pali. Normally this lake is much deeper, and the surface is choppy with strong winds, so it was unusual to come across it like this. I forgot to put my boots on and completely ruined a...
Thank you, chassis.
It looks as if it might also be a bit dangerous, Corran!
Great work, Yuriy! Georgia is on my list of countries to visit.
Thanks Peter - yes, I had to make some exposure adjustments on the fly to stop the highs being completely blown out.
If you go into the valley from where the sun is appearing, you get to this...
Some excellent photographs on recent pages. Ken's apples remind me of Muqi Fachang's Six Persimmons, and Austin's St Helens image reminds me of the first time I saw Ansel Adams' photographs.

+1
Three outstanding photographs that make me want to visit each place where they were taken.
+1 - that works really well, Peter. I like the way that the table on the bottom right acts as a reference point for the building in this image.
It must have taken a lot of foreskinsight to see that one!
:D Luck plays an important role in most landscape photography!
Thanks for the kind comments, jon, tuco and chassis.
That is beautiful, Tri Tran.
From a walk along the Zugersee last weekend - the first time I had time to use a camera for over a month;

That's excellent - the diagonal cutting across the centre of the image really works!
A few days away, and some time for photography at last. This is a composite of 10 images, at a Swiss glacier in its final death throes;

Thoroughly enjoying the excellent photographs on this thread.
On the contrary, summer haze can diffuse light beautifully, and summer thunderstorms can offer some of the most dramatic weather conditions.
