Re: DSLR Scanner: Camera Supports and Positioning
Yesterday I was taking apart a Kodak HR-500 scanner and it instantly reminded me of this thread.
The scanner is built like a large format camera looking a moving stage.
Get the DSLR in place of the CCD, get control over the stepper motors already there, put a light panel behind the opening for the negative carriers, and you are set.
If I'm not able to get this one running, maybe I'll try that.
Re: DSLR Scanner: Camera Supports and Positioning
Construction of new system optimized for 3x enlargements from 8x10 is underway. It'll be a floor-standing system with a manual sliding film stage.
Re: DSLR Scanner: Camera Supports and Positioning
Hello guys, I have moved far away and left everything behind. I'm trying to build a new system to photograph my negatives, was thinking if using a computer metal case as the support for negative, lighting and camera. Have you guys ever come across something using a metal box like that?

Sure. Here: http://www.filmtoaster.photography/ If you want to buy a used one, let me know. I found it "okay" but your mileage may differ.

Re: DSLR Scanner: Camera Supports and Positioning
I should have paid more attention to what Peter created. But it appears that it will do that "same" thing. Bought this:

Expect to do this soon.....using Kaiser slimlite panel + slide holder. The levels are little off (in the sketch), but things will get evened out.

One can attach pretty much any camera w/macro lens.

Les, I'll be curious as to how well that will work. I used a 4000 series Velmex Unislide.
