Frame and Mat Board Suppliers
Who are your go to suppliers for metal frames and Westminster cotton boards?
Any experience with "Archival Methods"?
Moderators: I could not find a good fit to place this question so followed a few other posts with framing and mounting questions.
Feel free to move to a different category.
Thanks to All.

Re: Frame and Mat Board Suppliers
I've been using Archival Methods for mat board and some other things and American Frame for Nielsen frames for a number of years.
Re: Frame and Mat Board Suppliers
I have had nothing but good experiences with Archival Methods. In particular, their shipping practices are stellar. Everything is very carefully packed so there is almost no chance of damage in transit. Same goes for American Frame.

Thank you Keith & Faberryman, your replies are greatly appreciated.
I have finally run out of supplies and it is time to reorder.

If you buy in quantity, you get a nice discount and save on shipping.

I live out in the sticks so everything is done by delivery for me. I use pictureframe.com for my frames, and have for over 30 years (previously known as graphikdimensions). They have done a good job and corrected the few errors quickly.
Also, I've had to switch to ordering mat board from Dick Blick in Chicago, as my supplier in Seattle will no longer ship. I hate the idea of my matboards bouncing in their package all the way from Chicago, but I hate driving into Seattle even more. Blick has done a pretty good job of packaging, I think.

+1 for Archival Methods and their attention to detail in packaging their shipments so that items arrive undamaged.
To John Olsen - consider Archival Methods for shipments of mat board. My experience is that they wrap and package their shipments such that there is NO chance of damage by UPS. ....
Re: Frame and Mat Board Suppliers
In about every area there is a wholesaler for materials that the local framing shops buy discount... Ask the local shops, they will probably tell you of of the firm in one of the closest principal cities... The wholesalers might sell to the public if you buy the minimum purchase (often just $25), quantity, and the big one, if you have a resale # for taxes, but you can sidestep that if you insist on paying them sales taxes with your purchase...
Our local supplier is Valley Framing & Moulding in Burbank, CA and have the best supplies and even classes for framers... (Great bulk prices and selection!!!) Framers, galleries, and museums buy from them... But they will bug you about a resale # until you insist on paying sales tax... (Seems that everyone who buys from them insists on resale (no taxes), so they bug you about the # until you pay tax...)
