Great work Jay and Stephane!
Here's my girls on a walk at the Plaisted Preserve in Owls Head ME. I have my trioplan with me for non-soft photos since I know it renders the forest and people well.
4x5 tmy2 in pyrocat hdc.

I tried playing with movements and I'm not really happy with the results for the first three. Especially my friend Nate, in the first shot there. In the GG, I had thought the exaggerated body would look good. Turns out I was really wrong. The other two just have wonky focus and poor use of framing.
I'm just glad to learn. I've gotten fast enough with operating the camera that I can trust myself with focusing on composure.

Thank you! I think my process is coming together, or at least I'm starting to get repeatable results with lighting + exposure + development + scanning + post. There's a lot of things to work out!

I made this with a 210mm Apo Symmar and HP5+ and a #11 Green filter. I'm trying to get a look that's more like alternative processes, but with the convenience of shooting at 50-100 iso and not having to cut film or make plates.

88, your technical skill and artistry combined with the emotive power of your lovely model make this an extraordinary and compelling portrait. Everything is just spot on. Bravo!

Re: Just Portraits, Without Rules or Date
Scott, Paul: Very nice work. Skipping past the fact that both of you have the technical stuff nailed, in Scott's I enjoy the group work, the first with the four girls on the porch reminded me of Strand's famous group in Italy (too lazy to go and find its proper title), and the second image with two girls is equally appealing. And in Paul's picture of Austin, I'm struck by the lighting, the texture of the shirt, its simply a really nice portrait, and of course fun to see what Austin looks like!

Thanks - I thought so, just wasn't sure. Based on the texture, I thought it may have been a print on Art paper or similar. Very nice by the way. I really like it - a nice warm feeling to it.

Indeed. great location, nice balance of the wires, nice fill, strong imagery.
I'd prefer more even development. I love the two hills in the distance.

My first X-ray portrait. My wife's a good sport letting me practice with half speed blue x-ray film which is not flattering to mature ladies. Graflex Super D, Gundlach Petzval, Pyrocat HD. More details in the X-Ray thread in the darkroom and film section.
